Wright Jet News
Week of May 9th
Cline's Corner
Thank you for your continued focus on our students and ending the year strongly. Remember, please do not break down your classrooms yet. When the classroom breaks down the students realize the end is near! We need to stay committed to engaging students in learning until the very end! I will be around collecting data on student engagement. I want to compare that data to the beginning of the year engagement data to determine our increase in student engagement. The engagement of our students has increased over the past year. Every room I walk into I see students engaged. We must continue that until the very last day! I understand they are getting restless. That may mean more movement/brain breaks in your classroom. Be flexible in your instruction but, do not give up.
Thank you for all you do!

Assessments You & Your Students
The true measurement of what happened in your classroom can only be experienced. You have to know where the students were when they came to you in the beginning of the year…not just academically and according to standards, but also socially, emotionally, and ownership of learning. These things are hard to standardize…no, they are impossible to standardize.
So…DON’T LOSE HEART ABOUT TESTING
I know there is a lot tied to them…but breathe. Relax. Remember that the true worth in what happens in your classroom is in the results of the growth that is clear in the students that leave your classroom at the end of the year. You have done a great job! Your students are changing. They are different students than came to you at the beginning. You are the one to thank for that! You have stuck it out with them. You have put in the effort and tears. You have done whatever it takes to see that change. Celebrate it. You really are awesome teachers!
Summer Reading
Help to prevent summer reading loss. Read to find out what can be done to help.
Watch this special message to kids from Captain Underpants
author, Dav Pilkey, to motivate them to read throughout the summer.
Monday, May 23rd, Wright will be hosting an evening for parents to encourage summer reading with their children. Each child at Wright will receive a book to jump start their reading this summer. This link will provide you some resources through Scholastic to help you promote summer reading with your students.
Blended Learning
I hope this playlist inspires you to find some creative ways to get your students excited about math, or at the very least provided some great resources for homework help. There are so many passionate math educators out there sharing their knowledge and working to improve math's reputation as a dull subject!
Math blended learning resources. This page has some video resources. You will have to sort through the group of resources to find ones that work for your grade level.
