Please Remember to Report Absences to the Office

Just a reminder that absences must be reported to the office. Please call the office at (215)721-0606 and use prompt 2 to be connected to the Attendance voicemail NO LATER THAN 9 am to report your child's absence. Leave your name, your child's name, grade and room number or teacher's name along with the reason for the absence.

The automated District call system is in place and you will receive confirmation that your child has been marked absent for the day.

Reporting the absence DOES NOT MEAN that the absence has been excused. You must also send an excuse note within 3 days of your child's return to school explaining the reason for the absence.

Keystone Opportunity Center Food Drive, March 2-6

Souderton Area School District and Keystone Opportunity Center are teaming up to fight hunger. March 2-6, we will be collecting food and household items to share with those struggling in our local community.

At Vernfield Elementary School, we will be collecting the following items:
• Canned Tuna, Chicken & Salmon
• Toothpaste
• Toothbrushes

All items will be collected the week of March 2 through March 6.

Sock Drive, March 16-25

In honor of World Down Syndrome Day, Vernfield Staff and Students will be collecting new socks for our Rock Your Socks, sock drive from March 16th-25th. Sock donations will be collected for the Montgomery County Offices of Children and Youth. We will also participate in a Rock Your Socks Buddy walk on Friday, March 20th. Sock donations can be fun, colorful, crazy or for daily use. All participants are encouraged to wear crazy, colorful or mismatched socks to celebrate our unique Vernfield style.

Bag Bingo Raffle Basket Donations Arriving

Thanks to all the volunteers who have been visiting the shops and restaurants in the area requesting donations for our raffle. Donations from local businesses and sports teams have started coming in.

Box Top Contest - Update!

January Box Tops counts are in and Fourth Grade has pulled ahead with 763 total collected!
Third grade is close behind with 707, then the rest of the pack is behind them with kindergarten at 399, fifth grade with 365, second grade with 311 and first grade at 229!
Thanks so much for continuing to send these last paper versions of box tops in!

Seeking Volunteers for Teacher Wellness Classes

Vernfield teachers are trying to kick the winter blues and stay healthy! Dr. Graf is looking for volunteers, familiar with aerobics, pilates, yoga, mindfulness, etc. to work with the Vernfield teachers either before or after school during the remainder of the winter months. In Case You Missed It...


There will be a TB testing clinic for parent volunteers held at Vernfield on March 2,3,4. Please call 215.721.0606 prompt 3 to schedule an appointment. Please be advised that parents need to have the TB test to be a chaperone for all field trips.


PSSA testing dates for students in Grades 3, 4, and 5 as follows:

  • PSSA ELA (Grades 3, 4, 5) - April 21, 22, 23
  • PSSA Math (Grades 3, 4, 5) - April 29, 30
  • PSSA Science (Grade 4) - May 4, 5

** Please note that Educational/family trips will not be excused when PSSA testing is scheduled for students in grades 3, 4, and 5. **


All orders must be received by April 9, 2020. A book of 6 tickets costs only $39 (regularly priced $60), and Home & School receives $14 profit per book sold. Tickets may be purchased online or via paper order form (instructions were attached to the order form sent home to students).

Vernfield Elementary School is looking for parents who are available to serve as substitute recess and cafeteria aides. Substitute aides are called to serve during a situation where a daily recess or cafeteria aide calls out. Substitute aides are paid for serving in this position.
