The communication forum for high school families

While we have experienced some beautiful weather recently, it's not hard to tell that fall is officially here. In this newsletter, we have provided some announcements and updates for some very important upcoming events.

Big picture

The first marking period (Q1) interim grade reporting period was last Friday, October 8. We have now reached the halfway point in the first marking period. As you know, you have access to view your child’s grades electronically through Power School. In addition, you can always and at any time, reach out to teachers if you have questions and/or concerns about your child’s progress. However, the interim reporting period is the opportunity for teachers to communicate with you. You will receive communication from your child’s teacher if students are deemed to be ‘at-risk’. We define the term ‘at-risk’ as having a grade below a 70% for an extended period of time. The goal of communication to parents at the less than 70% marker is to discuss with parents and provide the support and resources needed for students to close out the marking period successfully.

As we shared in a previous communication, we have made adjustments to our scheduled Homecoming. Like many schools in our local area, we will hold an outdoor event so that we can provide ALL students an opportunity to attend. We would be significantly limited in a traditional indoor event. Based on the time of year, we will be turning the event into a Halloween Homecoming Social event. Please see the information below for details surrounding the event.

Friday, October 29th from 6:30-9:00 pm.

Location: This will be an outside dance held at Steinly Stadium.

Dress Code: “Dress for Weather Conditions / Temperature”. Absolutely NO high heels of any kind will be permitted, only flat sole shoes. Students are encouraged to wear appropriate Halloween costumes should they choose; however, they must not wear masks that cover their whole face.

Weather Conditions: If poor weather is forecasted, the dance will be canceled and we will look for another day. If feasible, that date will be the following night (October 30).

Guests: There will be NO OUTSIDE GUESTS ALLOWED.

Ticket Cost: Tickets will be $15.00 each and will be sold during lunches. For students who have paid their activity fee, the cost is $10.00. Tickets will go on sale beginning Monday, October 18th.

Ticket Purchase: Each student can only purchase one ticket.

Masking: Masks are recommended; however, since it is an outside dance, they are not required. Remember, once you are in the dance you must stay because once you leave, there is no re-admittance.

· Carolyn Kushner - & Wendy Troutman Clegg - Post-Prom Co-Chairs

Post Prom provides a fun & safe environment where our seniors can spend time with friends after Prom. Seniors do NOT need to attend Prom to participate in Post Prom. Post-Prom has lots of fun activities plenty of food and chances to win GREAT prizes.

We need your help to continue this amazing event! Parents of 9th to 12th graders are valuable in helping us ensure that the tradition continues for many years to come. Without your help, the Post Prom is not possible. Volunteering for a committee does NOT mean you need to be present at Post Prom! Help is needed throughout the year.

PLEASE NOTE – ALL NIGHT OF VOLUNTEERS MUST HAVE THEIR CLEARANCES/COVID VACCINE (or negative Covid test 3 days before the event) IN ADVANCE OR THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HELP THE NIGHT OF POST PROM. To start the clearance process or upload for vaccination card, please follow the VOLUNTEER Link on the District Website at

HAT CHAT & SIP w/ Dr. Eveslage

Parents and guardians, please join us for the first Hat Chat & Sip with the Superintendent at Crooked Billet Elementary School on October 21. This is a quarterly event to learn more about what's happening in the district and network with community members.
