AP Exam Updates for PTHS Students

Good afternoon AP Students!
Today, The College Board released the AP exam schedule. Exams will be May 11-22, with make-up dates June 1-5. You can complete your AP exam online on any device you have access to - computer, tablet, or smartphone. You'll also have the option to write your responses on paper and submit a photo. The College Board will support you through exam day with testing date options and free resources. Exams can be taken at home or in school, if our school is open during testing.

AP Exam Length, Structure, & Format
- Exams will only include topics and skills most AP teachers and students have already covered in class by early March.
- Like many college-level exams, this year’s AP Exams will be open book/open note. Get tips for taking open book/open note exams.
- Most exams will have one or two free-response questions. Each question is timed separately. Students will need to write and submit their responses within the allotted time for each question.
- For most subjects, the exams will be 45 minutes long, and include an additional 5 minutes for uploading. Students will need to access the online testing system 30 minutes before each exam to get set up.
- Students taking AP world language and culture exams will complete two spoken tasks consistent with free-response questions three and four on the current AP Exam; written responses will not be required.
- The College Board will provide more details in the coming weeks to help students prepare.
Courses with Portfolio Submissions
The following courses will use portfolio submissions and will not have a separate online exam. All deadlines for these submissions have been extended to May 26, 2020, 11:59 p.m. ET:
- 2-D Art and Design
- 3-D Art and Design
- Drawing
- Computer Science Principles (note: this portfolio submission is best done on a laptop)
- Research
- Seminar

Free, Live AP Review Courses
Each week, you can attend free, live AP review courses, delivered by AP teachers from across the country. These courses:
- Are optional, mobile-friendly, and can be used alongside any work your teacher may give you.
- Will be available on-demand, so you can access them any time.
- Will focus on reviewing the skills and concepts from the first 75% of the course. There will also be some supplementary lessons including topics from the final 25% of the course.
