HOLY ROSARY SCHOOL
NEWSLETTER | TERM 1 | WEEK 3 | 17 FEBRUARY 2023

Students are working on fluency by listening and
recording their reading.

Hi Everyone,
The Ash Wednesday Mass is on this Wednesday (22nd) with Years 1 to 6 children attending, in Church, at 9:00am. Hope to see you there. A lovely reverence and energy are present at our masses. The more who can join us the better!
Another successful and enjoyable week draws to a close. The children are thriving in their classes, making friends, learning a lot about school, about each other, and about themselves. This school is their place, and what goes on in it is about making it a lovely environment, for them.
Keeping our place right is a shared responsibility. It affects all of us. It may sound challenging, but reminding people of the right thing to do on and around our campus makes a real difference. For example, parking! No school is immune to parking issues. So, patience with parking, the drive through, reminding people behind the wheel to be mindful and stick to the expectations of our community, all send a clear message about how we do things around here. If somebody is parking where they shouldn’t - on verges, in the Siena blue bays, in the drive through access, please call them on it. We all have a part to play. I have in the past (and will do so again if I have to!) published photos of cars parked in a way that they cause inconvenience, but the best reminders come from within our community. We want the place safe and in good shape. If together we do that, then we get the best outcome for our children.
Speaking with Rose last week - there looks like a lot of interest in the P&F Sundowner, which is great news! Hope to see you there.
Have a great weekend!
Mark

Sick Children and Adults - Thank You
Two of our staff are away with Covid, and while they were feeling a lot better earlier this week, the ‘thin red line’ was still present on the test, which meant a no show!
And it is evident that parents and guardians are taking the same precautions with their children, keeping them home if they are unwell - be it Covid or Gastro for example. While anecdotal conversations with people in other schools suggests we are certainly not alone with these ailments, the fact that you are keeping the children home until they are properly well, makes a huge difference to the spread of infection. On behalf of the community, we thank you so much for that understanding and support.
Parking
There is plenty available, please take a look at the outline below:

Happy Valentines Day! What a lovely week with all the love and heart books. I have absolutely loved getting to know our amazing Library Monitors for 2023. Thanks so much to James, Nathan, Alex, Mitchell, Oliver, Pia, Elisabeth, Eve, and Oliver for a great start and for being so helpful already. The sign up forms for the Junior Chess Tournament will go up next week. Year 1, 2 and 3 students who know how to (or can quickly learn) play chess are encouraged to sign up outside the library. Please remind your children that signing up does mean a commitment to participate and they will be responsible to checking the whiteboard for the days that they play. A lot of behind the scenes work goes into chess to make it run smoothly and ensure we end up with 4 players in the end. Thank you for your support.
