Mr. King Welcome Letter

Dear Plano East families,

With a projected enrollment of approximately 3000 students, the staff at Plano East is planning an industrious year for our Panthers. In addition to preparing classes for approximately 2600 juniors and seniors, we are also priming for two academies at Plano East- the International Baccalaureate World School Academy and the Health Sciences Academy.

New to our policy/procedure will be the requirement for all East students to wear an ID badge and lanyard. ID badges and lanyards will be issued within the first few weeks of school as we photograph students for their ID badge and yearbook photo. This initiative is part of a comprehensive safety/security plan in the process of implementation by PISD. More details forthcoming.

To our students- please get involved with clubs and organizations and find a place to share your talents.

To our parents- please support your child by volunteering your time in our programs. Most importantly, my door is always open to assist you.

We encourage you to do three things to stay connected here at East:

  1. Check our website frequently https://www.pisd.edu/Page/107 There is a section for all your back to school information!

  2. Make sure you are signed up for E-news (this can be done through parent portal)

  3. Follow us on Twitter @EastPanthers1

We would also like to encourage everyone to join the Plano East PTSA. Our PTSA does many great things for our teachers and students. Some of these include Senior Scholarships and donations to campus improvements. Please consider joining the PTSA at their website.

We will be increasing the length of 2nd period so that our students can watch a video on our locking door system, Alertus application so that we can communicate with students off campus, and a lockdown, shelter in place, evacuation/ fire and re-entry drills.
