Just over a year ago, a puff of white smoke announced the new spiritual leader of 1.2 billion Roman Catholics around the world. In The short amount of time ( the past year ) Pope Francis has adracted much attention.
Elements Of Leadership
- Christians need to get beyond their "comfort zones" and live with greater "apostolic fervor."
- The Church needs to be more "poor, and for the poor."
- Those in the Vatican diplomatic corps (and all others in the hierarchy) should understand that "careerism is leprosy."
- The global culture is rooted in believing that money is more important than people.
- Fellow bishops must become "Men who love...poverty, simplicity, and austerity of life."
Thoughts On Pope Francis
Since taking the helm of the Vatican, Pope Francis has rededicated the pontificate to the causes of economic justice, equality and peace. In visits to poverty-stricken communities, he has praised the courage of the poor, urging society to receive them with love and understanding.
