The City of Scottsdale offers multiple lifeguard training classes starting in February. Participants recieve certifications through Starfish Aquatic Institute in CPR/AED, First Aid and Water Rescue. The cost for the class is $128 for Scottsdale Residents and $192 for Non-Residents.
Lifeguarding is AWESOME becasue....
1. Great Pay: Lifeguards with the City of Scottsdale make $10.98/hr. Swim Instructors make $11.52/hour when they teach lessons.

Frequently asked questions
1. Do I need my swimsuit on the first day? Yes, Bring a suit, change of clothes, towel, pen or pencil, sunscreen and goggles to the first day of class....and everyday for that matter! You will be in the pool every day of class.
2. Will I be certified after the class is over? Yes, only if you pass the final test (written and practical)
3. Will I be a certified swim instructor as well? No, to become a Swim Instructor you must have an additonal certification. Classes for this certification are also offered through the City of Scottsdale. Your Instuctor can give you more information.
4. Does this certification mean I can only work for the City of Scottsdale? No, this certification will be accepted at any facility where the Starfish Aquatic Institute certification is recognized.
