Navigation Notes

Greetings Westside Families! It was wonderful to see so many of you at our Title 1 Math Night last week. Thank you for making the time to participate and support your child's math skills.

Last week our students focused on GRATITUDE in Class Convention, and this week they will be focusing on KINDNESS in honor of World Kindness Day on 11/13. Be sure to ask them about what they are grateful for and how they showed it, as well as, why being kind to others is important at school and home.

There will be NO SCHOOL on Thursday, 11/11, in honor of Veteran's Day! Thank you to all our staff veterans (Mr. Parrish, Mrs. Wallace, Ms. Johnston and Ms. Medina) and Westside families who have served to provide the freedoms we value.

**Brevard After School will be closed on 11/11 (Veterans Day) and 11/24-11/26 (Thanksgiving Break)**

Please Support Westside’s Positive Culture

When students are demonstrating one of our expectations, they earn Compass Cash. Students can then redeem Compass Cash for incentives in their classroom, school wide events, and our Explorer Exchange. To help keep this program running, we are asking for help through donations from our families, business partners, and community leaders. Please visit our Amazon Wish List using the website link below to make a purchase and support the great things happening at Westside! Thank you to the all the families for their donations last week! The students will be so excited to shop the cool new additions.

Last, the weather has been cooling down, so be sure to dress your child in appropriate clothing as the temperatures drop. Layers are the key as the mornings tend to be chilly, but it warms up quickly! We HIGHLY recommend putting your child's first and last name on the tags of all jackets as they often end up in our Lost & Found.

November is Diabetes Awareness Month

Westside is honoring our students and staff who have Type 1 Diabetes this Friday by wearing BLUE! Thank you to the Poole family for this informative flyer.
Big picture

Westside Explorers Are Learning Every Moment of Every Day!

Second graders in Mrs. Martin's class enriched their learning on various cultures during their Social Studies and ELA lessons last week by learning about Diwali. One of their classmates shared her experiences and even dressed in traditional attire to honor her culture.
Students have been working hard during the first half of the second nine weeks! They are consistently engaged in high-quality text and problem-solving in math. We are so proud of their dedication each day. Keep up the great work, Explorers!

Please send a mask and reusable water bottle with your child daily!
