Superintendent Newsletter
Panther Strong: July 2022
Dear Spencer-Van Etten Community,
I would like to thank the BOE for giving me the opportunity to be your Interim Superintendent from April 18, 2022, to July 31, 2022. You have a wonderful school system and a very supportive community, and it has been a pleasure to work in your district. I will be assisting the district during the month of July and helping Barbara Case become familiar with many aspects of the job before she begins on August 1st.
The Capital Project is now kicking into high gear since school is out. I look forward to returning for a visit to observe all the wonderful upgrades to our three school buildings. Again, I thank you and am honored to have helped the district navigate this time before your new Superintendent begins in August.
As always, please reach out to the district through sveinfo@svecsd.org with any comments, questions, concerns, or kudos.
Respectfully,
Mary Ordway
S-VE Interim Superintendent of Schools

Middle School Highlights
Gettysburg
7th grade students had a jam-packed day of fun and learning, starting with a tour of the historic Shriver House in downtown Gettysburg. This was followed by a bus tour of the battlefield with a couple stops for further learning and photos, a trip to the Gettysburg National Military Park and Museum to view the cyclorama and browse the museum (and the gift shop!), and a period-style dinner at the historic Dobbin House Tavern.

Summer Meals
Due to construction at all three schools this summer, we are having a closed enrolled summer feeding program. This means that only students who are enrolled in summer school will be receiving meals. We will be unable to deliver meals to other sites this summer. Families seeking assistance for meals during the summer can contact the Southern Tier Food Bank at 607-796-6061 or the Spencer-Van Etten Community Food Cupboard at 607-589-4412.
Thank you to our community organizations, families and businesses who have contributed to our scholarships and awards for our juniors and seniors.
