Veterans Day at Evansdale

After a week of celebrating and focusing on peace, the French Team would like to commemorate November 11 with the entire school. In the U.S., we call it Veteran's Day, for France it's Jour de l'Armistice, and in Canada and the U.K., it's Remembrance Day.

*Flyers were sent home with students. Please send names of people you know who served in the military.

*Students will make poppy flowers (les coquelicots) during French with Mme Lewis, (and in the immersion classes), and write names of their veterans and active duty members.

*The flowers will decorate the lobby.

*There will be a moment of Silence at 11:00am to mark the signing of the Armistice Treaty in 1918 (11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month).

*The French Immersion students (K-3) will bring madeleines (small "memory" cakes) as a gesture of peace, kindness and goodwill.

We look forward to this day. Please let us know if you have any questions!
