End of Year Information - June 2021
A Note from Mrs. Z
Dear Hamilton Ridge Families,
As I reflect on the past school year and all the challenges we've been through, I am especially grateful for your support. Thank you for ensuring that your child attended school each day, for making sure they had what they needed and for encouraging them to have a good attitude and do their best. This past year has not been an easy road but because of you, we have been able to educate your child to the greatest degree possible. Thank you for your support. Thank you for your care. And, most of all, thank you for your kids. They are the light in our days.
I wish you a great summer and I look forward to seeing you when we open the 21-22 school year.
Karen Zwolenski - Mrs. Z

Survey Results
Thank you for sharing your input through the Stakeholder Survey administered in late April/early May. We heard you!
Parent Survey Results
Respondents (94%) stated that the adults and teachers at Hamilton Ridge believe their child can learn and be successful, 92% say that teachers are available and provide help to their child when needed, and 94% state that staff promptly respond to phone calls, messages, or emails.
There are opportunities for growth as well. Because of the pandemic, a majority (63%) stated that they are concerned about their child's education. Social and emotional learning (SEL) support is essential for student success, to which 76% agreed. Finally, 85% of parents stated that their child is appropriately challenged academically.
Our commitment to you is that we will use these results to remain strong in educational best practices, and to improve in the areas of differentiating instruction so that students are challenged appropriately. We will plan strong social-emotional learning for the 21-22 school year so that our students are equipped to learn and grow at high levels. Upon opening the next school year, we will embark on looking closely at our students' academic and SEL needs and deliver instruction that supports every student at Hamilton Ridge.
Students Speak Out
Grade 3-5 students responded to the survey with these results: Students (96%) said they like being in school, 96% said that their teachers teach so they can learn, and 96% stated that their teachers help them feel included in the classroom. 98% stated that they feel cared about by at least one adult. For the question, over the past year I stayed connect to my friend group, 79% stated so.

At this time, we are planning Fall 2021 as if we will be able to start our year off on schedule. Please mark these dates in your calendar, but know that if necessary, dates may change and you will be notified via email.
Great Start to Kindergarten
During the first week of August, we will be conducting the “Great Start to Kindergarten” assessments for incoming Kindergarten students. A trained staff member will work with each child one-on-one to measure reading, math and social skills. The testing will take up to 30 minutes and will help us place your child in the kindergarten classroom that is best suited for him/her. Further information will be sent to Kindergarten parents on how to sign-up for the assessments.
Welcome and Assessment Days
On September 8 and 9, all students in grades K-5 will meet with their 2021-22 teacher individually for approximately 30 minutes. This time will be spent getting to know students and their families. Grades 1-5 will also take a literacy assessment. The assessment results will give teachers the data they need to target instruction for students from the first day of the school year. You will receive communication mid-August that will include information on how to sign-up for Welcome Visit and Assessmens Days. The first official day of classes for students in grades K- 5 is Friday, September 10.
