Tuesday, Oct 4 - 5:30 – 6:00 p.m - SPS 2nd & 3rd grade district field trip to Treasures of the City - . All second and third grade students and their families are invited to the event that will take place at the City Government Plaza (840 Boonville Ave.)
Thursday, October 6 - Early Release - 1:00
Wednesday, Oct. 12 - 6:00-8:00 Bartley-Decatur Literacy Night for Boyd students
Thursday, Oct. 13 - Boyd Mobile food Pantry at Central Christian including Pipkin and Weaver
Homework
Kid's Health offers 10 top tips for homework in an article titled the same (http://kidshealth.org/en/parents/homework.html?WT.ac=p-ra) They are:
- Know the teachers — and what they're looking for.
- Set up a homework-friendly area.
- Schedule a regular study time.
- 4.Help them make a plan.
- Keep distractions to a minimum.
- Make sure kids do their own work.
- Be a motivator and monitor.
- Set a good example.
- Praise their work and efforts.
- If there are continuing problems with homework, get help. Talk about it with your child's teacher. I am always willing to help!
Most students will have a book coming home this week for reading along with some activities to do with the book. They are to read the book, answer the questions, and bring the book back on Friday. Another student will use that book the following week so we need to make sure it is coming back.
Reading
Our younger students will continue books this week. They will be working on the 5 W question words and how to answer them, retelling strategies, sight words and breaking apart larger words into syllables.
