Leadership Redefined
Far too often we view leadership as a noun, specifically a title. I am of the belief that leadership is better described as a verb. Leadership is displayed through actions. Everyone can be a leader because everyone can do something. Here are a few ways to display leadership.
-Ask "How can I help?"
-Brainstorm solutions to problems
-Empower others (teammates and students)
-Communicate effectively
-Offer feedback and input
-Support and encourage others

May 16th: Message from Stephanie Easley (First Grade Teacher at Polenta Elementary)
Johnston County Schools Staff,
As you have probably heard, May 16th is a big day for NC educators. This is the first day the general assembly is meeting and many educators are marching for better public school funding. It is your constitutional right to take the day off and go to Raleigh and march alongside your colleagues, if you so desire. You have the support of your superintendent.
However, I know there are several of you who do not want to take a day but still support this very important cause. You still want to stand up to lawmakers and tell them they need to pay more attention to public education. Well with the help of Polenta principal, Mrs. Benson, I have planned a “Walk-In" here at Polenta Elementary School on May 16th at 9:00 am. We will gather together! Our voices will be heard! This is open to any and all staff members who wish to attend. Dr. Renfrow will be speaking.
Please be aware that this is NOT just about teacher pay. This is about public school funding in ALL areas. This includes the NEED for TA’s, resources, class size and so much more. If you are able to attend, please come!!! We ask that you wear red on May 16th!! If you have any questions please let me know. As teachers we have to be the voice for our students and our students deserve better!!!!!!!!!
Stephanie M. Easley
