CHS Choir Update #3
A Weekly Newsletter for Friends & Family of the CHS Choir
Greetings CHS Choir Family!
It has been so wonderful to have everyone back in the Choir Room this week. It did my heart a great deal of good to be able to hear and see each of you this week, whether you are at home or in-person. Your flexibility and the resilience you have displayed in adapting to new structures and processes these past two weeks has been tremendous. The commitment to attendance and participation from those learning at home has not gone unnoticed. You guys are doing a great job and we could not be more proud of you.
Below, you will find the schedule for the week and other information that we would like you to be aware of as we continue our work together. Your attention and review of this information is greatly appreciated.
Looking forward to a great week ahead!

CHS Choir Department Handbook & Forms
Below you will find copies of forms required for engagement in the CHS Choir program this year. Parents and students who have not returned their Handbook & Travel/Medical Forms are asked to sign and return them (digitally) as soon as possible.
Fees may be paid electronically via CutTime or by turning in cash/check to the lockbox in the Choir Room. Please contact Mr. Cooley if you have any questions or if paper copies of these documents are required.
Letter Jacket Forms Due This Wednesday
Each Fall, the CHS Choir Booster Club awards letter jackets to choir members for their accomplishments and efforts throughout the previous school year. The form to calculate points for activities completed in the 2019-2020 school year can be found below. This form must be completed by all students wishing to be considered for a letter jacket, whether they have earned it via points (minimum of 10 are required) or as a 4th-year member of our program. All forms must be turned in by Wednesday, Sept. 16th in order to be considered for a letter jacket this year.
All-State Sectionals Continue This Week
The All-State Choir audition process is an annual competition hosted each year by TMEA to encourage and empower students that wish to pursue advanced levels of music-making outside of the traditional choir classroom experience. Students in the CHS Choir Program that participate in this process frequently earn spots in the District and Region Choirs, as well as the All-State Choirs. Sectionals to support students in their learning continue this week on Tuesday and Thursday after school. All students are welcome and encouraged to attend. Need music or want to learn more about this process? Contact Mr. Cooley today!
Late and/or Missing Work
Progress reports are just around the corner! With only five weeks in this grading period, students are asked to be especially mindful of all due dates and deadlines for classroom work and activities, in choir and their core classes.
All missing assignments for choir should be returned to Mr. Cooley prior to the end of the day on Tuesday, to ensure that he has enough time to review them and award appropriate credit prior to the end of the week. Grades will be updated throughout the week in preparation for the end of this reporting period.
Students can view missing and past due assignments in their Schoology accounts.
The Music Enrichment Program is a critical part of the CHS Choir Department's efforts to shape our students into confident and more independent student musicians. Students that participate in lessons will receive individualized instruction that will help them develop a greater understanding of healthy singing techniques and performance habits that will serve them for years to come. Setting up your CutTime Account [Action Required]
The CHS Choir Department uses CutTime to help manage program communications, student participation records, administer financial records, share volunteer needs, celebrate program events, and so much more. Invitations to join this system were sent out last week. If you did not receive this email, please send Mr. Cooley an email as soon as possible.
Special Note: For many families, only one parent will receive this email. If you would like more than one parent to have access to your student's account, the following process can be used:
- Go to www.cuttime.net and select “Student/Parent Sign Up” at top of the screen.
- Read the instructions and complete the registration form provided.
- Our Group Name (to be entered in the first blank) is "Centennial HS Choir."
- Your position should be set to "Parent."
- Agree to the Terms and Commitments.
- Click the “Register Now” button.
Students were taught how to access their accounts on Friday during class and were asked to update key pieces of information in their account by Tuesday, Sept 8th.
