Small Moment Stories
In Writers Workshop, students have been writing small moment stories. A small moment story is a story about something small that has happened in your life. Students are not only working on writing stories, but also learning how to revise their stories. After the students write, they get to participate in an "author's share". During this, the students share their work with the class!
Base Ten Buildings
During a math lesson, the students in 2P worked with a partner to create a building using base ten blocks. After the students completed their buildings, they had to count the blocks and determine how much their buildings were worth. This activity helped the children better understand place value.
Reading and Daily 5
Compare and Contrast
In Reading, we are learning how to compare and contrast. Students have been creating Venn Diagrams to discuss the differences and similarities of characters in stories. One Venn Diagram was created to compare the characters Miss Nelson and Miss Viola Swamp from the book Miss Nelson is Missing!
Daily 5
Students are still completing rotations during daily 5. The children are discovering many new Apps on the IPad to use to help them write words. They are also listening to many stories on the IPad. The students also enjoy writing, reading to others, and reading quietly to themselves during this time. The students are starting to work with the teacher in small groups on Monday!
