Digital Citizenship - Digital citizenship is using technology responsibly
Digital media has lots of positive aspects, as long as it is used properly, cautiously, and is not abused. Students can use digital media to connect with teachers other students. Digital media can also be abused, students use digital media to bully other students and that can get them in trouble with the law. Everyday students around the world now can use laptops to do their homework or research for papers. Digital media makes our everyday lives easier.
Digital Footprint & Reputation
Digital Footprint - the "trail" that anyone who has ever used the internet in any form leaves behind
Consequence - the effect of an action
Everyone has probably heard that once you post something on the internet you can never delete it, but we still feel that once we click "delete" no one else will ever see it again. Even when you delete something that you post or send online, it is still out there forever. If you post something without thinking it out it can come back to hurt you. It could possibly even get you in trouble with the law.
Relationships & Communication
Double Standard - when rules are applied differently to two different groups of people, usually unfairly to one group
In today's world it is very easy to meet and communicate with people online for anyone, and in many ways. One of the biggest pros of online communication is that you can virtually communicate with anyone, anywhere in the world at any time. But there is a very big concern with the relationships people create online, anyone can pretent to be anybody that they want. Some people find success in meeting new people online, and sometimes people find themselves meeting a person that doesn't actually exist in the real world. Below is the trailer for MTV's show "catfish" that features online relationships.
