Cari's Corner

This has been a great week, we are in for a great end of the year. I want to thank everyone for the feedback to support my LPI learning. During this last quarter we will have many discussion about what is best as we move forward into next year, please reflect on what we want for our students, what do we want for Frontier in a year, in 5-10 years?

We will begin to look at our current vision and decide as a collaborative staff what changes we need to make to continue our progress as "THE Best School in the district, state and nation!!!" Let's make it happen!

Equity in Learning Leadership Team

Our team met on Thursday 4/7, we discussed and took ideas for how to move forward as an Leadership team next year. We also planned for our whole staff professional learning on April 20th. An agenda will be sent out next week for the late start on April 20th. Thanks for the great feedback and if you have other concerns please let Cari know ASAP.

Staff Announcements

Great news - Out Read Plan proposal and On time Intervention proposals were accepted and we will be able to move forward next year as planned :)




Friendly reminder our duty day is from 7:15- 3:15 please be sure to be here on time.


End of the year evaluation meetings- All meetings need to be completed by

May 5 ,2016. Celi and Cari will be scheduling these meetings in Lauren's absence. Please be sure to prepare for the meeting as it makes the meeting run smoothly and efficiently.

District Announcements

To complete infrastructure upgrades, we will be having a planned outage for the Colorado State Model Performance Management System (RANDA) from 5 p.m. – midnight on Tuesday, April 12. Users will not be able to log into the system during this time and we will put up a notice on the login page and dashboard within the system.

PBIS Accomplishments 2015-2016:

~ Updated SOAR posters

~ Created the qualifications for Wall of Fame, Falcon 500 and Principal Honor Role (qualification list in in google)

~ Organized and updated the Wall of Fame students

Care and Responsible use of Chromebooks----Teacher PLEASE follow up with students putting away chromebooks from testing OR classroom use. I am finding many chromebooks not plugged in ready for charging and the cords dangling and getting pinched by the doors when they close. Adapters are expensive to replace from pinched cords and if someone needs to use the chromebooks after your use, if they are not plugged in, the next user suffers if the chromebooks aren't charged ready to go. I know it is hectic during testing, and I come around to double check as a courtesy. So if everyone helps students understand the responsibility of using technology we will have the chromebooks in great condition for a long time to come. Remember if you are using chromebooks for classroom use (not testing) you should have a system for knowing which students are using which chromebook. Thank you!


Sunday, in placed the chromebooks for testing for 3rd & 5th grades, made sure they were plugged in and chromebooks were charging. Please note that there are enough computers for the students testing in the communities, so sharing chromebooks in the carts is a must. The easiest way to do this is teachers before testing, grab the needed extras and place them on top of the cart you are using and then replacing the chromebooks after testing in the carts to charge for the afternoon session.


I will be around to classrooms this week to double check inventory. The district was out last week to track down several items that were not found in October. I will visit testing classrooms(grades 3 & 5) after school.

BUILDING COUNCIL

Our next meeting is Monday, April 11th, 2016. If you have anything you would like to share, please speak to a committee member: Caleb Tucker, Erin Boyle, Cheryl Rebik, or Kari Santos. Thank you.

Reminder- if you have a concern you want to put forth the issue box is in the staff lounge, we check it before every meeting.

PTO Announcements

Our last PTO/Accountability meeting for this year will be Thursday, April 28th, starting at 2:45p.m. We hope you'll join us!! *Please note the time change for this meeting.


Staff Member Grant~

The Aurora Frontier P-8 PTO invites you to participate in the Staff Member Grant Program. PTO allocates funds for staff members to purchase items which will promote innovative teaching, improve curriculum, and enhance student life at Aurora Frontier P-8. Grant requests may be for projects, activities, books, field trips, equipment, etc. that enhance the academic lives of our students.


Grant request should be submitted at least two weeks prior to the monthly PTO meeting you wish to ask for funds and a staff representative must be present during such meeting.


Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns regarding this grant form.

Community Partners' Announcements

School Supply Kits for Kids - Edukit


We would like to thank everyone for their help in gathering each grade's school supply lists for the 2016-2017 school year! We will be submitting these lists to Edukit this week so that we can prepare our flier for teacher review before we send out to parents for ordering.


We are so excited to work with all of our amazing teachers this year to offer this easy to use option to all our Frontier parents and students!


Please note: Although ordering through Edukit makes shopping simple and easy for parents, participation in the program is completely voluntary for our families!


Weekend Food Bags


We are happy to be partnering with a local non-profit to help provide food to children through the weekend when they might not otherwise have meals available to them.


This week will be our first week to pick up bags for children in need so that they may be able to take home food this Friday to help reduce both hunger and anxiety about hunger through the weekend.


If you are aware of a student in need of a weekend food bag, please let Brandi or Shelly know so that we can work with the family and our community partners and help provide support where needed to help reduce hunger. Again, please be assured all names will be held in confidence.
