Ms. Vanessa's Biweekly Class Update

for the weeks of 4/8 & 4/15

Please, Pretty Please, turn in some $ to our treasury

Ms. Ruth's birthday is on April 15th. We'd like to be able to do something special for her as a class. If you haven't dropped off your envelope of suggested funds for the remaining celebrations for the year, please do so this week. Only four people have dropped off $ so far. If you need the info again, please email Tamara:

This Friday, April 12th, our kids will be doing a walk-a-thon for the pledges you are collecting from friends and family online: It will take place at the Assistance League during school hours, from 8:30am-12:30pm. We are only $610 from our goal. Please support our class by sending your fundraising link to as many people as possible. They can donate right on your child's fundraising page. Our class walks at 10:45am, come cheer your kids on (make posters for the class and your child! Wear your CWC shirt!), or even help out during the event! We need help with lap counting, keeping the kids entertained while they wait for their turn, general crowd control and more! Email Tamara if you want to help:

Teach for Understanding (TfU)

The gardening is happening, the gardening is happening! On Tuesday, April 9th, our kids will plan their garden. Each table is a team and they will decide where to place their plants and what decorations they want to add. Please send in as many little items to use a decoration as possible. The planters will be in the middle of each set of desks. Items such as plastic bugs, little benches, people, mini city scapes, little stones, crushed gravel for pathways, sand, you name it! Send it in on Monday or Tuesday.

Smart Moves--join the class every Friday

Starting Friday, April 12th, join the class to do morning Smart Moves, body puzzles for the mind. It starts right at 8:15am and takes 15 minutes or less. Smart Moves is a series of movements that gets the kids ready to sit and concentrate. It has been tested in some other classes and will now be used in all of CWCSL.

Mystery Readers: five spots open for remainder of school year

From May 9 through the end of the school year, we need five more mystery readers on Thursdays. Arrive by 2:30 to sign in at the front office. Thank you for considering! Please sign up here:

Scholastic Book Club Orders Due April 15th

Our class Scholastic page has already earned TWELVE new books for the class. For every order you place, our class will receive a free book. Orders for this month are due on April 15th and books will be delivered in approximately 10 days. Our class activation code is: LZ38M. Visit Scholastic here:

Golden Goal

This week's golden goal will continue to be: "Working together as a team." Our kids are giving each other gentle reminders and helping each other out.

Kiddie Walk-a-thon on April 12th

Start stretching...the walk-a-thon is April 12th. You'll actually be cheering on the kids, but that requires stretching, too. Registration here: Our kids walk at 10:45am.

Coffee with the Principal on April 19th

Stop by, right after drop off, and hear the latest updates about the school! There is actual coffee, too.
