Congratulations to our Oregon Kid Governor!

Our very own, Lea Andrus from Mr. Gregory's class, has been selected as the 2023 Oregon Kid Governor! She ran on an inti-bullying & kindness platform. 127 schools from all over Oregon participated and over 3,000 fifth graders voted! During her term, she will have opportunities to meet people, share her campaign platform and begin working on action. We have no doubt she will make an impact on others and we are VERY proud of her!

Attendance Matters

Each school in Sherwood has an Attendance Team. Our Hawks View attendance team has been working to identify our students who have below 90% attendance rate. Letters have been sent home with several students, as a notification of current attendance rates. We understand that illness has been traveling through our community and we are appreciative of families who keep sick kids home. That said, we don’t know every situation, so our letters are simply meant to be informative and an opportunity for us to partner with you if we can help in any way. Thank you for your understanding!

Mudpuddles Shop For Your School - Last Chance!

Let’s go shopping! At checkout, mention Hawks View and they will donate 20% of your purchase back to our school! Click here for more details. Last day to shop for our school is Sunday, November 20th.

Hawks View Elementary Food Drive

Tuesday, November 29th - Friday, December 9th. Can we beat last year’s record breaking food drive? We collected 5,989 items in 2021. What can Hawks View Hawks do in 2022?

Only nonperishable items please. All food donated will be distributed by the Sherwood Elks and will stay in the Sherwood area. Let’s work together as a Hawks View Community to make a difference!

Dinner (Dessert) Night Out!

Join us at Sherwood Crumbl Cookie on 11/30 from 3-8 pm. Treat yourself to some cookies - it's a PAC fundraiser AND you get a delicious treat, win-win! Flyers will be sent home on Monday, November 28th, or you can find the flyer here.

Clubs

Both Passport Club and Chess Club are up and running. The kids are working hard and having a great time! If you are a parent/guardian interested in helping out for either of these clubs, please email programs@hawksviewpac.org.

Popcorn Friday!

Today was School Spirit Friday! Be sure to ask your student who delivered their class' popcorn today. And we want to say another big thank you to Sherwood Les Schwab for sponsoring Popcorn!

Transportation Department Updates

  • Snow Routes are posted on our Transportation Department page and can be found here. When Snow Routes are activated, service will be limited on all routes except for 1, 8, 9, 12, 14, and 18, which will not be affected. For all other routes, please review if your stop will be impacted during an inclement weather event.

  • After Thanksgiving break, rural routes will service all grade levels together in order to improve the arrival time to our secondary schools. All route changes will be reflected in the Ride 360 app on Tuesday, November 22nd and will take effect on Monday, November 28th. Regardless of whether or not you live in a rural area, check the Ride 360 app because your bus stop time may change. If you do not have the Ride 360 app, you can find directions on how to install the app and register your student(s) at the link below. You will need your student(s) ID number(s) and the birthdate(s) must be entered in the following format MM/DD/YYYY.

Volunteering?

We are so excited that volunteers are again being welcomed into the building and classrooms. There are many areas in which you can support the students and staff, but there are a few steps that every volunteer needs to accomplish beforehand:

  1. Please fill out your district background check. Remember to click the "submit" button at the end! A background check needs to be completed each year and can take up to 10 days to clear. Please email volunteers@hawksviewpac.org when submitted, so we know to keep watch for your background check status.

  2. Submit proof of vaccination or a vaccination exception form to the office. Exception forms can be found here: Medical Exception Request or Religious Exception request. Exception forms will need to be approved by our district office prior to volunteering.

  3. Download the HelpCounter app! Please create a login and check the boxes for the areas in which you'd like to help. If you already have a HelpCounter account, please update your preferences so we know to contact you when specific needs become available. Examples of areas of interest include: popcorn day, picture day, bulletin boards, Art Lit, field trips and lots more!

  4. If you have questions please reach out to volunteers@hawksviewpac.org

Here is a link to the PAC website, which has all the links you need to get involved! We can't wait to see parents and community members helping out!

Sherwood Education Foundation's "Clicking 4 Kids" Campaign

The Sherwood Education Foundation (SEF) was formed to enrich and enhance the quality of education in the Sherwood School District by distributing grant funds to individual teachers, and by funding programs that support the District’s vision for educational excellence. Because of community support, in the last six years alone SEF has awarded 98 teacher grants totaling over $323,000. Whether it's Sensory Paths, Ozbot Evo Robots, Oregon Battle of the Books, kiln restoration or a PE equipment reboot for the High School, SEF is committed to and will continue to be there for our teachers and their students.

SEF's annual Clicking for Kids fundraiser campaign is now open and will run through November 30th, providing you an opportunity to help continue this incredible support for our Sherwood students and teachers. SEF’s continued success is only made possible with your support! 100% of your donation goes directly back to funding teacher grants at all grade levels.

Please partner with Sherwood Education Foundation and donate today!

For more information or to donate visit www.sherwoodeducationfoundation.org, or see the flyer below.

Community-Based Events and Announcements

Sports and enrichment activities in our community can be found on our District website, under the Resources tab, and then Community-Bases Events and Announcements.

Save the Date!

#Giving Tuesday (November 29th) is quickly approaching, and the SHS Athletic Booster Club has an exciting NEW way to ensure your donation goes directly to your favorite Bowmen sport team(s). That’s right, YOU decide what Bowmen sport team YOU want your donation to go towards and we’ll ensure they receive it.

Please help us fuel the tradition on this upcoming Giving Tuesday and make a meaningful cash donation that our student athletes will benefit from. Donations can be made at: https://ourschool.support/GoBowmen

Thank you and Go Bowmen!
