Have A Great Weekend!
Happy Friday Everyone!
This week we enjoyed some great weather! I am starting to see students getting back into the routine of school and all of the daily tasks and expectations. Learning is happening and students are are doing great!
As homework starts to come home, please see the tips below to making homework a positive experience for your student. It is important that students get the extra practice on the skills they are learning in a way that will challenge them,
Please continue to stay in contact with your child's teacher and work together to ensure the success of your student. Together we will make a difference!
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!
Warm Regards,
Dr. Morris

Homework Tips For A Great Start To The Year
- Know the teachers — and what they're looking for. Attend school events, such as parent-teacher conferences, to meet your child's teachers. Ask about their homework policies and how you should be involved.
- Set up a homework-friendly area. Make sure kids have a well-lit place to complete homework. Keep supplies — paper, pencils, glue, scissors — within reach.
- Schedule a regular study time. Some kids work best in the afternoon, following a snack and play period; others may prefer to wait until after dinner.
- Help them make a plan. On heavy homework nights or when there's an especially hefty assignment to tackle, encourage your child break up the work into manageable chunks. Create a work schedule for the night if necessary — and take time for a 15-minute break every hour, if possible.
- Keep distractions to a minimum. This means no TV, loud music, or phone calls. (Occasionally, though, a phone call to a classmate about an assignment can be helpful.)
- Make sure kids do their own work. They won't learn if they don't think for themselves and make their own mistakes. Parents can make suggestions and help with directions. But it's a kid's job to do the learning.
- Be a motivator and monitor. Ask about assignments, quizzes, and tests. Give encouragement, check completed homework, and make yourself available for questions and concerns.
- Set a good example. Do your kids ever see you diligently balancing your budget or reading a book? Kids are more likely to follow their parents' examples than their advice.
- Praise their work and efforts. Post an aced test or art project on the refrigerator. Mention academic achievements to relatives.
- If there are continuing problems with homework, get help. Talk about it with your child's teacher.

Cars should head North down Bennett and drop their children off on the east side of the street near the walking path behind the school. This is also acceptable closer to Illinois as well. It will also be important for parents not to park/stop in the “No Parking” area on Bennett closest to Illinois.

Also, thank you to all who participated in our Dine and Share with Taco Shop. It was a great way to support our PTA and a local restaurant at the same time!

PTA Membership Information!
Hello Pleasant Hill Community,
Another school year has begun and we are looking forward to all the excitement a new year holds! An important part of Pleasant Hill is our PTA. The Pleasant Hill PTA provides many activities for our students and families such as the Back to School Picnic, Cougar Carnival, Field Day and many, many more. To help support these activities we are asking families to join the PTA. PTA membership is $10 per family for the school year. Your membership includes access to the school directory, volunteer sign ups, online sales, school communications and supporting school events. We will be using Membership Toolkit again this year for all our PTA needs. Membership Toolkit is accessible both online and through a mobile app. The deadline for membership is Monday, September 20th.
Please click on the link below to join the Pleasant Hill PTA for the 2021-2022 school year. Once there, click on the paw that reads “Join PTA“. Returning PTA families will need to update their student’s classroom information under the My Account section.
