A snapshot of the first week in 4th grade...
Mrs. Cochran
Take a look at how her class collaborated to create the expectations for this year. Each student signed to show they participated and choose to take part in creating a culture of caring. Can you find your child's name?
Mrs. Ervin
Her homeroom has been busy setting up goals for the upcoming year. They are ready to improve in reading and math, read lots of books, and get good grades! See if you can find your child's goal!
Ms. Patinka
Building stamina is a big part of 4th grade. Ms. Patinka has been very intentional about teaching the students what good readers look like. They track their progress using a reading stamina chart. We'll check back with them in a few weeks to see their progress!
Class Dojo
Please sign up for Class Dojo if you haven't already. Email your teacher if you need the class code!
Mrs. LaRusso
Students got creative in Math this week with the activity called Figure Me Out! Students created math equations that answered a variety of questions about that student. The answer of the equation is also the answer to the question. These are on display outside her room for the kids to learn more about their friends.
Mrs. Villiard
This week the students read a story called Thundercake by Patricia Polacco. The book encourages us to face our fears just like the little girl in the book had to face her fear of thunderstorms. The picture shows a recipe that goes along with the story. Maybe you can make a Thundercake on this rainy day!
Ms. Willard
The first day in a new school can be tough! Mrs. Willard's class shared their thoughts and feelings in a colorful graphic organizer after reading the book "First Day Jitters" by Julie Danneberg. Students seemed to agree on two important things; they have a nice teacher and they are happy to have so many friends in their class!
Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Izzo
Lego fun and math! Not your typical math class, Mrs. Lewis is taking a step further. Her classes are currently in the middle of a project that links creativity, legos, students, and number systems to learn about place value! Final products will be shared as they are finalized!!
Mr. Dumford
His class has designed a list of class promises that challenge them to work together and build a kind and considerate learning environment. This poster will be displayed in the classroom to be a reminder of what they promised to one another!
Shout Out!
Ms. Willard and Mrs. LaRusso's homerooms were recognized for following cafeteria procedures. They were recognized school wide and received a class reward. Mrs. Willard's class voted on computer time and Mrs. LaRusso's class chose pajama day today!
Ms. Manion's Class
Students brought their listening ears this week ready to learn all about our school procedures. In this pictures Mrs. Manion's class is participating in the annual bus drill. Wanting to make students feel comfortable in their new school, all fourth grade teachers have reviewed the expectations for important areas of the facility like the cafeteria, bus, hallway, and playground.
