The Rotary Club of Glen Ellyn
Friendliest Club in Rotary
July 31, 2020
Dear Glen Ellyn Rotarians,
Starting on August 20, the Rotary Club of Glen Ellyn will offer two meeting options. Treasurer and Immediate Past President Penny Belke has offered to support the in-person option while I will lead the meetings via zoom. The Rotarians who choose to be in-person will be able to see the zoom meeting as well as see members in person. A special thank you to Paul Keenon for being our digital manager! He will help us with the technology to bring us all together both in-person and zoom.
Zoom Option
Zoom meetings will continue to be available to anyone who is not comfortable meeting in person until further notice.
Email with zoom link will be sent to all members the week of the meeting
Rotary President will be running the meeting from zoom
In-Person Option
A location for the in-person meeting will be emailed each week. Location will be coordinated by Penny.
Location could be at a home of a Rotarian or at the Glen Oak Country Club/Barones (outside when possible)
Masks required
Social distancing at 6 feet as much as possible
Meals will be taken to go. Drinks will be offered.
Hand sanitizer will be provided at the location. You can also bring your own.
Presenters will have the choice to be in person or via the zoom link.
We hope this hybrid approach supports all Rotarian needs for engagement. Although our meetings look different our dedication to our club is the same. We will continue to serve the community in meaningful ways during the pandemic and beyond. Thank you all for staying connected and being patient as we worked through how to provide a meeting format that is as safe as possible.
Please make an informed decision that is right for you. For guidelines and information about covid in DuPage County, visit the DuPage County Health Department website, click here.

Rotary Club Strategic Planning for 2020/21

Weekly Meeting Time Change
The Glen Ellyn Rotary Club continues to meet every Thursday. This year we will change the time of the meeting to 12 p.m. from the former 12:10 p.m.

End Polio Now Fantasy Football Sweepstakes Fundraiser
The Rotary Club of Glen Ellyn will again raise funds for the End Polio Now international Rotary program. For $20, participants receive a mini Gift-checkbook containing up to $35 in gift-checks that work the same as cash at area restaurants and other retailers. Participants also receive (no additional purchase necessary) a Football Fantasy Sweepstakes ticket that provides them the opportunity to win cash prizes each of the weeks of the professional football regular season.
Our End Polio Now fundraiser is fun for participants and a great way to raise funds!
If each member sells about 8 tickets, we would sell out the 250 that we normally order each year and generate club revenue for Polio of $2,500.
To participate, email or call Ken Bucheit to request tickets.
630-674-6750
Tickets will be delivered to your home to sell (Thank you, Paul Keenon!)
Please note: If the NFL does not have a regular 17 game season this year, they will select a previous season and use the results from that season for the tickets printed this year.
Upcoming Meetings and Programs
Thank you to Dawn Bussey for scheduling the 2020/21 presenters starting again on August 6! All sessions will be via zoom until the club opens back up to in-person meetings. Hopefully soon! Share the zoom links sent out by Paul Keenon and invite friends/colleagues to zoom in with us for our meetings and programs! Reminder that meetings now start at noon!
