News from the library
Lower elementary students have just finished learning database basics. We had two fun-filled weeks researching bats and birds! Our first through third graders can now log onto a school computer, navigate to our school databases and find all kinds of information. These are foundational skills that we will continue to develop throughout the school year.
Before we go on break for Thanksgiving, we're having a chance to let our creative side out in the library. PreK-6th grade makers are having a blast making fall crafts! We will soon have a makerspace up and running and these craft activities are laying groundwork for rules and procedures while using it. Makerspace is the next step in library evolution and I can't wait to see what our students will create!
Digital Citizenship is also on the horizon. All grade levels have an age appropriate topic to cover designed to help them navigate the digital age safely and kindly as they grow into their role as happy, healthy citizens of the digital age. Cyber bullying, online safety, and information sharing (or not sharing) are all topics covered. This is another learning experience that we will continue to develop over the course of the school year.
I hope you have a wonderful break!
Happy Fall, Happy Thanksgiving, and Happy Reading!

Our groups are working on Habit 4
Think Win a Win!
I am reading stories to our Children’s House students to help them think about their choices and how to get there. We practice making goals and making choices each day! We have watched and role played this Habit b too!
In our 1,2,3 grade pod we are using our thinking skills by working in small groups using hands on Stem activities as well as goal setting, and self control skills for our Think Win Win.
We always review the Habits we have already learned so students can remember all as this helps with the Think Win win.
I so enjoy watching them learn and develop such important skillsLessons in Art
In the Art room students have been preparing for Black History Month. Children’s House has been working on Peace Plates. When finished they will be displayed in their home rooms. Lower level and Upper Level have been making posters of African American Hero’s to display in the halls. Upper level has been discussing emphasis and contrast while producing Power Word Silhouettes. We look forward to making paper weaving's and cards for Valentine’s Day and working with the classes loom.
