Principal Update
Week of February 20, 2017
Good Morning,
I hope you had a wonderful long weekend! We have a busy two weeks ahead of us. Please support our kindergarten program on Tuesday, February 28th and Family Night on Thursday, March 2nd.
Children First
Please adhere to the following guidelines if a child threatens to hurt self or others.
Any child who threatens to hurt self or others needs to be reported to an Administrator immediately with action taken. Take ALL comments that refer to threat to self or others seriously. Even if they are repeated comments regardless of age or ability level.
The Response Team from your school includes: Principal, Assistant Principal, Counselor. Psychologist, Catawba Mental Health Service Provider, and SRO (as a witness only). It is preferred for the psychologist and counselor (together) to conduct the Threat/Suicide Assessment. If the psychologist and/or counselor are not available, another Response Team member will assist. Parents need to be notified regarding the situation, and come to the school to debrief and pick up their child.
Respect
Please remember to talk to students, parents, and colleagues with respect. We realize that everyone is busy and sometimes under time restraints, but we are in the business of working with people. As a part of the PLC process, we are committed to working together and confronting issues with respect.

(Treekelia and Kimenya - Goal Leaders) Would you please review our School Improvement Plan Climate goal to ensure that we are making adequate progress to reach our goal.
(Lisa Taylor and Dina - Goal Leaders) Would you please have the literacy team revisit our School Improvement Plan's literacy goals? We need to make sure that we are making the necessary progress to reach our goals.

Shout Out
Rose, Thomasina and Connie have earned a jeans pass for having PLC minutes uploaded into Canvas for the month of February.
Family Night
There are Family Night flyers in your boxes. Please send flyers home with students today.
PTO Update
Bingo/Silent Auction will be on Thursday, March 16th from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Grade levels are asked to donate items for the following baskets:
Kindergarten/4th grades - USC Gamecocks Basket
2nd/3rd grades - Clemson Tigers Basket
1st/5th Grades - Panthers Basket
Special Area Teachers - Games
Office - Movie Night
These are suggestions, please let me know if you feel there needs to be a change. If a parent is a diehard Gamecock or Tiger fan, they may certainly send in items for their team's basket. Mrs. Heisler is coordinating the Silent Auction Baskets fund-raiser. Mrs. Heisler will begin contacting parents on Wednesday. PTO will also send a letter explaining the silent auction.
Every classroom has a designated classroom parent. Classroom parents will be in charge of securing items for the baskets. PTO is trying to make sure that teachers are not responsible for the Silent Auction Baskets. Items will need to be turned in by Friday, March 3rd. If you have questions, please contact your classroom parent. The list is posted in the workroom.
