How it started
Bungie Software Products was established in May 1991 as Bungie Software Products Corporation by University of Chicago undergraduate student Alex Seropian and Jason Jones. They wanted to combine brilliant technology and beautiful art with captivating gameplay. Before Bungie was fully made they released a pong clone called gnop wich is pong spelled backwards, and that type of brilliant marketing stragtegy would catapult Bungie into the gaming stratosphere.
Early Life of Alex Seropian
Alex Seropian attended the University of Chicago, Seropian was pursuing a mathematics degree with a concentration in computer science as the Department of Computer Science did not offer undergraduate degrees at the time. Before graduating Seropian was living on his father couch debating wether to get a job or create his own video game company. His dad told him to get a job for experiance, but the next day Seropian decided to make his own company.
Seropian left Bungie and created Wideload Games in 2004. Wideload was acquired by Disney in 2009. As part of the deal Seropian became vice president of game development for Disney Interactive Studios, a position he left to start a company focusing on mobile games 2012.
From the Beginning to Now
May,7th,1991 was the creation of Gnop. On November,7th,1991 Operation Desert Storm was created and would be the second game Bungie would publish based on the war taking place in Iraq at the time. On December,7th,1991 created mainly by Jason Jones Minotaur: Labrynths of Crete would be the third game Bungie would publish. On August,1st,1993 Pathways into Darkness would be Bungies first 3D game. It was basically Minotaur accept with updated graphics and in 3D. On December,21st,1994 Bungie would release Marathon. On November,24th, 1995 they would release Marathon 2 the sequel to the original Marathon. On November,5th,1997 Bungie released Myth: The fallen lords the first of the Myth stategy game trilogy. On November,30th,1998 Bungie released Myth 2: Soulblighter. On November,7th,2001 Myth 3: The Wolf Age was released. On November,15th,2001 they released Halo combat evovled which was a start of one of the most popular game series at the time. On April,1st,2003 Red vs Blue was premeired which is a well known video series. On November,9th,2004 Halo 2 was released. On September,25th,2007 Halo 3 was released. On september,22nd,2009 Halo 3: ODST was released. On September,14th,2010 Halo Reach was released.
Bungie and Microsoft
Microsoft aquired bungie in 2000 but on October 5th,2007,Bungie announced that it had split with Microsoft and become a privately held independent company, Bungie LLC. The company later incorporated and signed a ten-year publishing deal with Activision Blizzard
