celebrating 25 years of excellence in catholic education
Theme for the Year: Goodness
Our Motto: Teaching the Mind...Nourishing the Soul
At St. Joseph Catholic School, we are striving to become missionary disciples, recognizing the goodness of God in our lives and in the world around us, each and every day.
Our Mission and Vision Statements
Mission:
St. Joseph Catholic School provides students with a safe and prayerful learning environment, enveloped by an intimate community of active and faithful families.
Vision:
Catholic schools in the Diocese of Fort Worth are committed to opening the doors so that our students can reach further than the walls that would otherwise enclose them and therefore are able to recognize and cherish the eternal and transcendental goods of Truth, Beauty, and Goodness.
From the principal
I recently found this reflection of emeritus Pope Benedict online: "Pope Benedict once said, 'Judas is neither a master of evil nor the figure of a demoniacal power of darkness but rather a sycophant who bows down before the anonymous power of changing moods and current fashion. But it is precisely this anonymous power that crucified Jesus, for it was anonymous voices that cried, 'Away with him! Crucify him!'"
The emeritus Pope also wrote: "'His second tragedy — after the betrayal — is that he can no longer believes in forgiveness. His remorse turns into despair. Now he sees only himself and his darkness; he no longer sees the light of Jesus, which can illumine and overcome the darkness. He shows us the wrong type of remorse: the type that is unable to hope, that sees only its own darkness, the type that is destructive and in no way authentic. Genuine remorse is marked by the certainty of hope born of faith in the superior power of the light that was made flesh in Jesus.'"(Jesus of Nazareth: Holy Week, 69)
Emeritus Pope Benedict points to why I do feel sorry for Judas at times. He lost sight of the ability to see the forgiveness of Jesus. Even in his despair, Judas struggled to make good choices.
Now is the time for us to take a moment and reflect on the journey we have undertaken this Lenten Season. How have we embraced the season? It is never too late to pick up our own cross and bear it bravely in honor of Jesus' sacrifice. We can learn from the mistakes made by Judas. We can treat others better and we can never lose sight of Jesus Christ and His forgiveness.

New saintly quote to ponder
No one should follow what he considers to be good for himself, but rather what seems good for another. Let them put Christ before all else; and may he lead us all to everlasting life.
