Miscue Analysis In Running Records - Does It Sound Right?
Does it sound right? (S-Structure/Syntax)
Did the structure (syntax) of the sentence up to the error influence the reader's response? If the error occurs on the first word of a sentence, it is marked positive as structure if the new sentence could have started that way.
Remind/teach students the following so that they can use structure/syntax information to solve words quickly.
*You said _____. That doesn't sound right.
*You said _____. That's not the way the author would say it in a book.
*Listen to this. (Model two choices.) Which one sounds better?
*You can think about what sounds right.
