Forest Hills Weekly Update
11/22/21-12/3/21
Happy Almost Thanksgiving! In the spirit of gratitude, I just wanted to take this opportunity to share how blessed and fortunate I feel to be a part of a community as wonderful as Forest Hills. Each and every day I am grateful for our kids and their kind-heartedness, amazing personalities and enthusiasm for learning.
I'm also profoundly thankful for such a supportive parent community--even more so this year, as we work together to support our students and keep one another safe in this pandemic. (I'm especially indebted to our fabulous lunch volunteers. We truly could not make lunch happen without you!)
Lastly, I am beyond grateful and proud of the entire Forest Hills staff, as they continue to work tirelessly for our kids. I would be lying if I said this year is easy, yet they show up each and every day and do their very best to help our kids grow and make school such a special place. They are truly inspiring.
I hope you are all able to take a few moments to reflect upon all that you are grateful for over the next week or so, and that you very much enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Report Cards/Parent Teacher Conferences
For those of you attending IN PERSON CONFERENCES on Monday:
- Please click HERE for a building map, which is intended to help you more easily find teacher's classrooms or offices. (Hard copies will be available on a table by the main entrance.)
- Plan to access the building through the main entrance on Central Ave.
- Masks must be worn at all times within the school. (Please, please don't put us in the position of having to address this with you. The staff is delighted to be able to meet with parents in person this year, but want to feel safe returning home to their families.)
For those of you attending VIRTUAL CONFERENCES on Tuesday:
- Teachers will (if they have not already) share links to access the virtual conference.
- They may have a conference directly before yours and will "let you in" to the conference at your designated time. You may need to wait a minute or two in the waiting room.
Again, we look forward to meeting everyone (either in-person or virtually) next week as we work together to help our kids grow.
Holiday Helpers
Holiday Helpers is a collective effort amongst the entire Forest Hills community (Student Council, PTA, students and staff) to share some love and joy around the holidays, with those who are less fortunate or need a little something extra this time of year.
Historically, we've had about 8 or so different service projects kids can choose from:
Dog/cat toys--Hinsdale Humane Society
Placemats for Meals on Wheels
Cards for Veterans--Hines VA
Laundry Packs for BEDS clients
Caroling Videos for Plymouth Place
Bedtime Bags for Children in Foster Care
Pack Canned Goods for Local Food Pantries
Kindness Beverage Sleeves for Hashstacks
If anyone has a local connection to an organization near and dear to your heart, please let me know and we can try to add them into our service efforts.
The Holiday Helpers event will take place on Tuesday, December 21 at 9:00am. During this time, all students and staff, along with parent volunteers will break into their service groups and work on their projects. (ECE and Kindergarten participate on Monday, December 20.) Students will choose their service project in early December. The PTA graciously provides all of the necessary materials for the projects.
Again, please let me know if you have a connection to a special local organization that we can support. We really are so very fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful community and always look forward to spreading joy through service to others.

Thank you to the PTA for providing staff with dinner during Monday's Conferences! It is much appreciated. Also, thank you to Courtney Levy, Mara Nolan and all of the parent volunteers for making the Turkey Shoot such a success.
