Northpointe Newsflash

September 13 - 17, 2021

Northpointe Intermediate School

This past week we explored the Great Expectations Life Principle of Honesty. Next week we will be learning more about the Life Principle of Compassion-ability to share another's feelings or ideas. It has been great to see our students lead the Call to Excellence each morning.

We had a great 5th Grade Open House this past week and are looking forward to our 6th Grade Open House on Tuesday!

Open House Update

We have adjusted our Open House to two nights! 5th Grade Open House will be Thursday, September 9th and 6th Grade Open House will be Tuesday, September 14th. Both evenings will begin at 6:00 pm and parents will follow their student's schedule.

We kindly ask that students not attend Open House as these events are informational meetings for the parents.

NIS Digital Resources: Parent Permission Forms

The 21st Century learner is growing up in a world surrounded by technology. Out of the thousands of resources available, our goal is to optimize technology tools for instruction and offer a variety of options that may be applied as needed for your child. We will use these platforms to offer instruction in core academics, in digital citizenship, and give strategies that may assist your child in using the internet safely.
The digital resources we may be using in the classroom are listed in the links below.

We would like to have your permission for your child to use these digital resources that may collect information such as student name, student ID number, student email address, and/or usage data. For instructional websites, we will use the students' Tomball ISD google profile to create and access student accounts.

If you would like your child to participate, please complete the form linked below as soon as possible. Participation is not mandatory, but we ask that you please consider allowing your student to be included in these learning experiences. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us via phone or email. We are excited to be sharing this learning opportunity with you and your child and welcome your feedback during the process.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is from September 15 to October 15 – National Hispanic Heritage Month traditionally honors the cultures and contributions of both Hispanic and Latino Americans as we celebrate heritage rooted in all Latin American countries. During this period, the United States recognizes the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States. Northpointe Intermediate celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month and encourages our Wildcats to embrace the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans in the United States.

ABC of Mental Health - They include ideas for promoting the mental health of children and adolescents, information about how children change as they get older, descriptions of behaviors that might indicate a problem, and practical suggestions for steps to take.

Our next PTO Spirit night is September 21st at Just Love Coffee! Please let them know your purchase is for Northpointe Spirit Day BEFORE they ring you up.

Car Rider Line Reminders

Thank you all for your patience and flexibility as we have worked through car rider line logistics! Please remember that when you exit the car rider line, you can not turn left. You must turn right onto Northpointe Blvd. If you turn left, it becomes a safety hazard and can also impede the flow of traffic exiting and entering the car rider line. We appreciate your help with this!

Update: Bus Transportation Information

All students are able to utilize TISD Transportation through September 7th regardless of bus registration status. After September 7th, students must be registered for transportation. Registration is required for each student needing bus service to and/or from school. Please fill out a separate registration for each TISD student needing transportation in your household.

All information regarding bus transportation, including bus service registration, bus routes, bus rider rules, and Smart Tag information, can be found on the TISD Transportation website.

All transportation changes during the school year are needed in writing by 2:00 pm. You can fax them to 281-357-3026. We do not accept transportation changes over the phone or through email.

Reminder: Student Dress Code

A reminder to all of our Wildcat Parents and Students:

- All students must wear clothing that adequately covers the body. Shorts and/or skirts must reach the mid-thigh. Spaghetti straps, strapless, backless, see-through and low-cut tops are not allowed. Tops must cover the midriff.

- Student hair must be that of natural color. Students that need to address this particular portion can meet with their Assistant Principal to discuss a solution and timeline.

All dress code policies can be found in the TISD Student Handbook linked HERE.

Return to School Announcement

As we approach the 2021-2022 school year, Tomball ISD continues to monitor local and state health guidance and with that, the district has made a few modifications to its Return to School Parent and Student Handbook that was originally sent out last week.

Modifications made can be found in these sections of the handbook:

  • Isolation and Readmission Criteria for a Positive Lab-Confirmed COVID-19 Student
  • Isolation and Readmission Criteria for a Symptomatic Student
  • COVID Dashboard & Notifications
  • Rapid COVID testing

As always, every decision being made considers the health and safety of our students and staff as a top priority. We encourage you to read through this handbook once again as it may answer any questions or address any concerns you have as we move forward with this school year.

We greatly appreciate your patience and your understanding of these guidelines and look forward to welcoming our students back to school on August 17.
