Kodiak Family Update
11/01/21 - 11/05/21
Our Mission: Partners in Learning, Preparing for the Future
From the Principal
Kodiak Family,
As we start quarter two, it is important for us to reflect on where students are at in their learning journey. At VMS we frame learning around the district identified priority standards. Those standards help us to keep a laser focus on skills and knowledge students need to move to the next stage in the learning process. Teachers communicate this learning through the PowerSchools gradebook.
As we prepare for Thanksgiving, I want to share what I am thankful for over the next several weeks. I am thankful for the amazing partnerships we all have at VMS! This partnership takes us working together as staff, students and parents to create a positive learning experience for students. I am feeling very grateful!
Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Go Kodiaks!
Partners in learning,
Will Schumaker, Principal

NJHS gives back to the community!
Here's NJHS volunteering at the Idaho Foodbank Warehouse last Saturday. NJHS got compliments from the staff for how quickly and accurately they worked. Members bagged fruits and veggies for culturally diverse food boxes that are headed to the Payette area! NJHS and the other volunteers packed 220 boxes on their shift. Way to represent NJHS!

NJHS Pop Tab Collection - We need your help!
Can your family help us make a difference in the lives of families with sick children? The National Junior Honor Society at VMS collects pop tabs. Collecting pop tabs is an easy way to offer financial support to the Ronald McDonald House charity, which provides free lodging for families with hospitalized children. The aluminum still gets recycled, and credit for the value of the aluminum is added to the Ronald McDonald House account. To start a pop tab collection system at your home, simply set up a small plastic or paper bag near where your family places your empty cans. Then train family members to pop the tab before they dispose of the can and place the tab in the bag! When the bag starts to get full, have your child bring the bag to their advisory teacher for NJHS to collect! Thank you for helping us help our community!
Thank you D1 Sports Training Center!
We would like to give a HUGE shout out to D1 sports training center for coming out during lunch at Victory Middle School on Friday! The students had a blast participating in all the activities such as the vertical jump and football throw. THANK YOU D1! If you are interested in having your child get some extra physical activity and/or sports training during the winter please feel free to visit their website and tell them that VMS sent you!
Kodiak Coaches Corner
The winter season is in full swing… we are excited to see our boys and girls in action in the coming weeks. Coach Stoor and the Lady Kodiaks are on our their way to a GREAT season with basketball! They will be in action next week on Monday (@Lake Hazel), Wednesday (@Heritage), and Thursday (Home v. Meridian). The basketball games have been fun and we are sure glad to see fans and the student body back watching the games.
Coach Stoneberg and the wrestlers begin their season this coming week. The team will be in action on Nov 3 (Home v. Heritage) and Nov 4 (@Meridian). We have great numbers this year and expect to have one of our best seasons. We are in need of some help for the home matches. If that is something that you can support and volunteer, please sign up on the following link:

The athletics department wants to the thank the Kodiak Family and the PTSO of their support of Victory Athletics. By working together we are finding ways for making this the best experience for all our students!
Remember we want our athletes out participating and having fun, if there are any issues that we can help please contact Coach Pence (pence.dane@westada.org) and we will see if we can make it right. Go Kodiaks!
