After School Tutoring

Do you need extra help with classes? Attend After School Tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Library after school from 3:15 to 5:15.

If you ride a bus and need the late but you have to sign-up in the AP office before 1:00 that day.

Southeast Community College Career Days

Career Days: An opportunity for students to participate in hands-on activities related to a specific career area alongside SCC students, faculty, and industry partners.

*Lunch is provided for Careers in Construction Day, Ag Day, and Careers in Manufacturing & Engineering Technologies Day.

Discovery Days: An opportunity for students to experience SCC firsthand! A tour, an opportunity to talk with faculty, staff, and students, and lunch is included.

Job Corps is a U.S. Department of Labor program that is the nation’s largest career technical training and education program for eligible young people.

  • Each year, Job Corps helps approximately 50,000 young people get the career training and education needed to enter the workforce or an apprenticeship program, go on to higher education, or be accepted in the military.
  • Job Corps offers training in high-demand industries, including health care, information technology, and manufacturing.
  • Through community college partnerships, Job Corps students can earn college credit (or even finish a high school diploma, if needed).
  • After graduation, Job Corps provides transitional support services to help students further their education or find employment, housing and transportation.
  • This program is funded by the federal government and is available at no cost to eligible participants.

HCOP Health Careers Ambassador Program

We are looking to recruit 25 high school students (juniors and seniors ONLY) to participate in our upcoming 2021 - 2022 Online High School Health Careers Ambassador Program session. The 2021 - 2022 Online High School Health Careers Ambassador Program session is an 8-month, every other Saturday program (only 3 hours each of those Saturdays) that provides a plethora of academic and professional enrichment opportunities where students partake in various health-related workshops, professional development seminars, online mentoring, standardized test preparation, online homework support, virtual clinical shadowing, virtual field trips, etc. - sessions are to begin October 9, 2021 – April 30, 2022 (stipends included).

As you can see, the 2021-2022 Online High School Health Careers Ambassador Session will indeed remain virtual due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, not involve additional academic enrichment courses, and sessions ONLY occur every other Saturday since students are more than likely at their host institutions enrolled in credit-courses. The 2021-2022 Online High School Health Careers Ambassador Session is designed to complement a student’s present coursework and provide academic/professional support along the journey to success.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Now…the sooner, the better, since we only have 25 high school slots available – they can go pretty fast!!

STIPEND: $27 per session attended

FREE Virtual Careers in Energy Event

For the second year in a row, the Nebraska Energy Workforce Consortium is hosting a FREE virtual Careers in Energy event October 18th-22nd! We have morning AND afternoon sessions this year and each day is broken down by themes:

Monday, October 18th: Corporate Services

You may be asking yourself: Why a career in energy? Read this report to find more information. We all need gas, water, and electricity to sustain our natural gas for heat and cooking, water to drink and wash clothes, and electricity to charge devices and turn on lights. It is an industry that is ever changing to improve reliability and be safe for all customers and stakeholders. We need young minds to take us to the next level. There are good paying jobs and lots of variety of work in the energy industry.

We have a fun packed week to where educational institutions and employer partners will share information about the energy industry for careers. This event is focused on middle and high school students and is open to all. Registrations are completed by teachers and will receive a virtual link to the platform from me. Although this is virtual, we will make this engaging and encourage the students to ask questions.

You do not need to attend ALL of the sessions nor are you limited to only attend one a day – select as many as you would like!

United States Merchant Marine Academy

Are you interested in attending a service academy? Please share this information session for those interested in the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), one of the five federal service academies that include West Point, Annapolis, Air Force, and Coast Guard academies. The admissions process and academic requirements are unique for service academies and this session is open to all high school students and college counselors.

Who: All interested students and school counselors

What: Virtual question and answer session with some of our outstanding Midshipmen. This will be the perfect opportunity to learn about the admissions process and what it’s really like to attend USMMA.
