Parents of bike riders, please make sure your child uses a bike light in the morning. On dark, rainy mornings, it’s difficult for drivers to see small bikers. Thanks for keeping McBride kids safe!
School is dismissed at 2:15 except Wednesdays which is 12:45. We thank you in advance for your on-time drop off and pick up of your students!
From the Library.....
Welcome Parents, Students and Friends to our Read-a-thon!
This year, we are excited to announce that we will hold a Library Read-a-thon fundraiser. Our Read-a-thon is a program that brings students together with family and friends to encourage reading and to build literacy skills.
The main focus of the Read-a-thon is for everyone to know we are committed to improving reading skills. To that end, the Read-a-thon promises to be a fun, exciting journey for all participants as they begin a personal Reading Adventure that challenges each reader to complete 10 in school reading sessions over our 2-week event.
Our Read-a-thon will start February 18, 2018. Friday, February 9, approximately 1 week before we start our first reading session, we will send home paperwork with your reader explaining how you will activate their personal Read-a-thon page.
That evening, Friday, February 9, at the McBride Bingo for Books Night, you can use a computer at school to activate your reader’s personal Read-a-thon page. You will know that we have distributed the take home sheet because we will also place a green Read-a-thon bracelet around your child’s wrist as a reminder. We understand that, as parents, you have high expectations for the quality of your child’s education but also have limited time. That’s why we chose to hold a Read-a-thon.
You will find this to be the easiest fundraiser possible. By simply activating your reader’s personal page and using the promotional tools found there, friends and family anywhere in the world can show their support for your reader by making a donation to our Read-a-thon. Your involvement in the Read-a-thon will help your child develop a lasting love of reading.
We hope each one of you will activate your child’s personal page the day your child brings home their paperwork.

TOGETHER - Mustang Award
Our Mustang theme this year is "Together". Let's continue the recognition and thank yous. Each week we've enjoyed sharing the recipients for the TOGETHER award. Recipients receive this award because of the spirit of togetherness they've demonstrated to help McBride continue to be strong. You may nominate staff from McBride, staff from St. Helens School District, parents from McBride, community members from McBride/St. Helens - anyone that demonstrates working 'together' to help McBride continue to be the incredible school and community that it is. You may pick up a "Together" nomination form in the office or email Mrs. Tyler (lisat@sthelens.k12.or.us).
This week's award recipients......
PTO Kids Night Out Volunteers
Kati Crouch, April Biracree, Cheryl Burum, Amanda Normine (and family), Heather Mosterdyke, and Junior PTO member, Destinee Long
This event was a huge success at the Eisenschmidt Pool because of these volunteers. There were 224 kids that registered and we were only 26 registrations away from the max. This event was a fundraiser to purchase new benches for McBride's gym. Thank you to these volunteers for helping this event become a success!
Jesse Sederberg and Joe Bair - Jesse and Joe work in our district Facilities and Maintenance Department. McBride has needed maintenance support during the last two weeks and these two gentleman have been on top of it to support when needed. Thank you.
Sharon Shiel, Michelle Flock, Diana Johnstun, Stephanie Harman, Amy Stobbe, Arisa Cupp, Jill Eidsness, Cathy Gray, Rosalie Sumsion, Krissy Shaw and Evelyn Herendeen - These ladies all work at McBride to support reading. Assessing every student in the school is an enormous job. We couldn't do it without this amazing team. They are friendly, efficient, accurate, and always helpful. They quickly put students at ease and encourage them to do their best. They quickly solve problems and look for solutions. This week has gone very smoothly--one of our best! They've worked so hard! Thank you.
