Theagenes of Thasos

That one guy.

He became famous in Greece when he stole a bronze statue he liked. The statue was really big and heavy and he was just a wee little boy. He competed in boxing pankratius, and running. He got crowned in 1300 events. He started competing at the age of nine. He won two crowns for boxing and one for pankratius.


Other Victories

In addition to his two Olympic victories, one in boxing and one in the pankration, Theagenes won a lot of victories in other games.


The would call him the legendary hero of the Iliad, "swift-footed'. He then decided to compete in the foot race and of course he won.

When Theagenes died, the people of Thasos memorialized him with a bronze statue.
