8th Grade Parents: Make Plans to Attend Curriculum Night - Monday, January 14, 6:30 p.m., PCHS Wilson Auditorium
As we reach the mid-point of the 2018-19 school year, PCHS is planning for the 2019-20 school year and is inviting parents and students to attend Curriculum Night. The purpose of Curriculum Night (formerly known as Parent Night) is to allow you to learn about each core class (English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies) from the department's perspective.
We encourage both the student (current 8th graders) and parent(s) to attend so that all can receive the information about courses which are offered at Platte County High School. This will greatly assist you and your student in the planning process and in course selection for the 2019-20 school year. If you would like more information, please contact your student's counselor: Dixie Wirsig, PCMS Counselor, or Becky Brandt, Barry Counselor.
**Platte County High School Counselors will meet with Barry students on January 18th to finalize course requests.
Car Rider Reminders
Please remember the following when dropping off children during arrival and picking up students during dismissal:
- Be aware of students walking in the drop off and pick up area
- Do not block the street or prohibit traffic flow
- Do not block crosswalks
- Be patient with each other as students are dropped off and picked up
- Safety is our number one priority
- Barry staff will be directing cars to move further around the corner in the car rider line toward the front door. Students will still enter and exit through the car rider door. The reason for this modification is to make our process more efficient and to keep traffic flowing on 87th Terrace.
More information and a detailed map will be coming soon.

Message From Our Nurse
If your student is now over the age of 11, they can receive their Meningococcal (MCV) vaccine and their Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis (Tdap) vaccine that are required for his / her 8th grade year per Missouri State Law.
We are trying to get as many done as possible before the end of the 2018-19 school year so that enrollment next school year will be a bit smoother for everyone. Your child may have already had this done but we don't have the updated documentation in their school health record. Please check with your child's doctor to see if he / she needs to complete these vaccines. If they have already had these immunizations done, please get proof of them being given to us as soon as possible. Keep in mind, if your student does not have this immunization at enrollment next year, they will not be able to get their schedule nor start on the first day of school.
Last minute checks can make your wait at enrollment time much longer than necessary as well as cause undue stress on you and your child. If you have any questions please call 816.436.9623 Ext 3106.
Updated immunization records may be brought in to the health room at school, faxed to 816.468.6046 or emailed to email@example.com
In the event of school cancellation, PCR-3 will get that information out as early as possible through automated phone calls and text messages, the District website, Facebook, Twitter, the District Hotline (816-858-2752), and local media.
Please visit the Winter Weather Information page on the Parents Tab of the district website for information regarding recess and clothing considerations (there will be no outdoor recess when the wind chill is at 20 degrees or below), cancellations, how the district will notify families, and Y-Club information.
Parents: If you haven't yet opted in to receive texts and wish to do so, please text the word "YES" to 67587.
