Central Elementary: Helping All Kids Find Their Genius
Week of December 14, 2015
Message from Mrs. Hill
Family Christmas Trees
Each year, Central's Family Organization purchases Christmas trees to decorate our stage. The trees will be given to families who do not have a tree for Christmas. The CIA group has purchased one tree and will purchase another this week. If you would like to contribute to the ornament collection for these two families, you can send an ornament to school with your child to hang on a tree. We hope by Friday, December 18, both trees will be full of ornaments collected by our kids and their families.
LET'S CELEBRATE FAMILY READING!!!
In our efforts to promote and support family reading, we want to share and celebrate our families reading together and our kids reading independently.
Share your photos from home of your family taking opportunities to read! You can email them to Mrs. Hill, tweet them and tag us @CentralCabotpK4, or post to our school Facebook page. Use the hash tag #CEunited anytime you tweet about our school or mention us. Thank you!
Have a wonderful week!
Your Lead Learner,
Our school blog is for kids, teachers, staff, families, and community members who would like to contribute. We want to model blogging for our kids while promoting digital citizenship for them.

Christmas for Kids Toy Drive and Coat Drive
We are also collecting coats for our community. If you are looking to clear out a closet, or have kids' coats that are too small, send them to school and we will find a home for them! We are accepting coats/jackets of all sizes.
It is an awesome experience to teach our kids the giving spirit, and to have empathy in their hearts for those in need.

Shoparoo: A Way to Raise Funds for OUR Kids!
We have almost earned $200 for our school through Shoparoo! As of Saturday afternoon we have accumulated almost 114,000 Roo Points, and have 105 supporters. Our school wanted to reach 100 users and 100,000 points before Christmas break and we did it! This goal would help us reach the $300 mark and beyond! Every little amount helps, so between Shoparoo, Box Tops, Marcos Pizza, and any other initiative we take on, we can earn cash rewards for our school and avoid fundraising as much as possible.
You can join Shoparoo with the following code: lang5526
What Will Shoparoo Funds Help Purchase?
We need more Chromebooks for our students. The goal is to have a 1:1 setting in third and fourth grades! This means there is a Chromebook (laptop device) for each student´s use throughout a school day. We have several devices currently and want to add more. We would also like to add to our second grade classrooms in the future, and have 1:1 tablets for our kindergarten and first grade kids.
Box Tops for Education
Below are links to some collection pages for Box Tops. You are free to print these, or you may ask your child to pick up a sheet at school! We will have them available for you.
We will offer bookstore coupons to kids who return filled Box Tops sheets! These coupons will give them discounts on items in our bookstore. We will be purchasing more items for our store and will soon share those with you!
Check out our newly improved website! It includes easier buttons for accesss, along with our school's Twitter Feed.
