Graduation Update
As our district shared last Friday, Plano ISD is excited to announce graduation plans for the Class of 2020. Seniors will have the opportunity to share their graduation experience with loved ones, which includes walking the stage in full regalia at their respective schools.
Academy High School
- Date: Friday, May 29, 2020
- Time: 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Address: 1701 Alma Drive, Plano, TX 75075
- Location: First floor, LS 1-3
Next week on Wednesday, May 20th, you will receive a form link to select a sign up time for graduation. Within that form, there will be additional information collected to help us have a "touchless" and "paperless" experience as well as help our vendors know who is on stage each time. Following your completing and submitting the form, you will receive a QR code that you will scan as you enter our building for your scheduled time.
- 2020 Graduation Event Details
- Graduates and up to four guests will be invited to arrive at their respective schools at an appointed time. Social distancing and health screening protocols will be observed throughout this onsite process.
- Schools will contact students and families with details on how to obtain an appointment time. It is important that all participants honor their appointment in order to provide a meaningful graduation experience for all.
- Each student’s personalized experience will include having their name read, walking across the stage in full graduation regalia and receiving their diploma cover from a family member. This moment will be captured by a videographer for the ceremony video.
- All four guests will be allowed onstage with the graduate, or may opt to stand in front of the stage. No guests will be seated.
- A keepsake family photo will be captured onstage and an individual graduate portrait will be captured upon leaving the stage.
- Following the photographs, a graduation cap toss will be filmed for the ceremony video before the graduate and guests exit the building.
- The footage gathered will culminate in a graduation video ceremony to share with students and families.
- In-person graduation dates for senior high schools (August 1) and Academy High School (July 21) are still reserved in the event that we can bring graduates together in a venue, safely accommodating the large size of our senior high graduating classes and their guests.
