• Christ the Redeemer is the largest art deco statue in the world. It is 98 feet tall (not including the 26 foot pedestal), and the arms stretch to 92 feet wide.
• The statue weighs approximately 635 tonnes.
• The stones that were used to build Christ the Redeemer came from Sweden.
We chose this because it is a very popular tourist attraction in rio that would be fun to look at.
Tijuca Forest
- The Tijuca Forest attracts visitors by being the largest urban Forest in the world.
- The Tijuca Forest is a man-made reclamation of land around Rio de Janeiro that had previously been cleared and developed to grow sugar and coffee.
- The Tijuca Forest owns some of the well known structures and attracts including Christ the Redeemer, Cascatinha Waterfal and the Mayrink Chapel containing murals painted by Cândido Portinari
We chose this because we thoughts the view was incredible and would love to visit and share the love of hiking and think that this would be amazing to hike through.
Sugarloaf Cable Car
• The sugar loaf cable car opened in 1912 and was the third to be built on the world.
• In 1979 it featured in an action scene for the James Bond film.
We chose this because we have never seen it before and thought it had a beautiful view. And would be a once in a lifetime opportunity.
