Distance Learning Update
COVID-19 Edition 2
PACKET and SUPPLY PICK UP
Our staff and teachers have assembled bags for each child. Each bag contains:
1. Your child's supplies found in his/her locker or desk.
2. Hardcopy worksheets and packets for core content areas.
3. Any other items we found in desk and lockers while cleaning out (except food--we threw that away!)
4. A little surprise for each family and scholar.
We will run our packet and supply pick-up, tomorrow, Monday, March 23rd, from 11am-1pm. Here is how the breakdown will look:
11-11:30 PREK - KINDER
11:45-12:15 1st - 4th grades
12:30-1:00 5th - 8th grades
If you cannot come during your scholar's assigned time, you may come anytime between 11am-1pm. This breakdown is to make the flow of passing out bags easier for the staff. If you cannot come at all tomorrow, but would like to pick up your child's bag, please notify Mrs. Lopez via email to see what arrangements can be made.
Parents will NOT be allowed on the campus for any reason. We ask for parents to drive through the Kukral underpass like we do for morning drop-off and we will bring you your scholars bag. Please do not park or leave your cars for any reason either. As much as we love and miss the babies (and we do), to be extremely safe and cautious, we ask to please leave the kids at home.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please email Mrs. Lopez
PACKETS vs ONLINE LEARNING
There have been many questions about the worksheet packets and the online learning we set up last week. Here are a few clarifications:
1. The ONLINE learning is the teachers' main method of learning. If at all possible, we would ask that families utilize the online learning lessons. Starting next week, our teachers will be streamlining all the lessons into one main format on SEESAW. This will make it easier for parents and students to navigate the lessons.
THE PACKETS are for families who cannot access the online learning OR who cannot be there to monitor the online learning all day. We are NOT asking families to do BOTH packets and online learning. You may do one or the other.
However, please NOTE: The packets are REVIEW material and should cover TEKS your child has already learned. The online learning lessons (starting this week) will move forward with new TEKS and the teachers will be setting up ways to teach that new material. If, for any reason, you cannot complete or do the online learning lessons, you may do a packet worksheet in the same content area and turn in for a grade too. But please do not feel obligated to do both worksheet packets AND online learning.....unless you just want too. And yes, you can mix them up and do a combo of both. The main thing is to make sure your child is doing and turning in a steady flow of lessons in all content areas weekly.
2. Yes, we will also be EMAILING the link to the GOOGLE DOC with all the lessons in an easy to access spreadsheet. Several families have asked that we keep the lessons all in one place like this so that it functions as a sort of checklist to make sure assignments are complete.
3. The google doc spreadsheet is the one stop place to have all our your child's lessons on one page, but remember all of those lessons will also be loaded into Seesaw to help you access it all in one place as well.
A Reminder to Our Families
Finally, just a gentle reminder that whatever you do, and however you decide to do it, is ok. NO STRESS. FLEXIBILITY. FUN. That is the name of the game! We are all here to help. Assignments might take longer than normal and that is ok. Students might need to do a simple worksheet instead of an online lesson and that is ok. Do what is best for your scholar and your family at this time. The goal is to continue their learning with as much rigor and as non-disruptive as we can, but as we all know, this isn't normal, and we are all trying. We will continue to give ourselves and each other all the patience, love, and grace we need so that we ALL can be successful. Our Lady of Fatima, PRAY FOR US!
