We have made it to February and we couldn't be more excited! As you may well be aware, the spring semester is always fast and furious with many activities and events happening back-to-back and sometimes overlapping. Our staff and students have put in a TON of effort so far this spring and I am excited to see where this takes us.

We are closely monitoring the weather as we anticipate the cold front arriving later this week. We will provide notice on KBTX and via email if we will change our plans for a delayed start or school closure.

National Catholic Schools Week (CSW) is an annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. Now entering its 48th anniversary year, CSW 2022 is from January 30 to February 5, 2022. This year’s theme is "Catholic Schools: Faith. Excellence. Service." SJCS will celebrate the week with Masses, assemblies and other activities for students, families, parishioners and community members. Be sure to keep up with our Facebook page to see what we do to celebrate each theme.

Students in grades 3-8 will participate in Winter NWEA MAP testing February 7-11, 2022. MAP Growth is designed to measure student achievement in the moment and growth over time. If possible, please limit appointments and picking up your child early during this week. If you have any questions, please feel free to email your child's teacher or Mrs. Kleiber at akleiber@stjosephbcs.org.

We are in need of volunteers for the following events and activities:

• Spirit of St. Joe's - set up, working the event, and clean up.
• Lenten Decorations - decorating the two campuses in preparation for the season of Lent

With the nature of COVID and the precautions we take at school with illness, we ask that you please DO NOT send your student to school if they do not feel well before they leave the house in the morning. We understand the desire to not miss instruction, however, we want to err on the side of caution because the health and safety of our students, staff, and families is more important!

If your student is feeling ill with COVID-like symptoms and does not come to school, please email your campus Administrative Assistant (Elementary - Mrs. Svatek, Secondary - Mrs. Tietjen) as soon as possible so we can work through the safety protocols.

Students are attending the I:55 Book Fair this week.

I:55 is a Christian based company that ships books all over the U.S. and they are based in Hearne, Texas. Their principle purpose is to declare the Good News of God’s saving work in Jesus Christ and to support others who do so. It is this truth that compels us to conduct ourselves “in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ” (Philippians 1:27).

Our 5th grade student orientation will be on Wednesday, February 9th. The 5th graders will take the bus over to the secondary campus for mass, a tour, Q&A and a fun game!

Our 5th grade parent orientation will be from 6-7 PM on Wednesday, February 16th at the secondary campus.

Our 5th graders will be attending Camp Kappe Tuesday, February 15th-Friday, February 18th. Please keep our 5th graders, teachers & chaperones in your prayers.

We would like to invite parents and current 8th graders to High School 101. High School 101 is for parents to learn more about what St. Joseph Catholic High School has to offer for their child going into grades 9 through 12. High School 101 will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 6:00 PM.

St. Joseph Parish has, along with other parishes in the Diocese of Austin, has scheduled a family-renewal event called Purified for February 15, 2022.

What is Purified?

It is a family-based event that invites parents as well as teens to learn about God’s plan for love. It combines Jason Evert’s presentation on chastity for the family, with a time of prayer, adoration, and the sacrament of reconciliation for everyone. We will also be distributing free resources to every attendee so that every member of the family can take items home to help them live out this lifestyle.

We are incredibly excited to announce that Jason Evert will be joining our 7th-12th graders on February 16 for a special presentation to learn even more about the message of chastity and how to live out the virtue within their daily lives!

As our 8th graders are coming to an end of their junior high career and preparing for new beginnings in high school, they will participate in a Sweet Ending to a New Beginning on Friday, February 18, 2022. 8th grade parents should you have any questions, please email Mrs. Kleiber at akleiber@stjosephbcs.org.

We will induct the candidates into the SJCS Chapter of the National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society on February 23, 2022. The ceremony will be held at 9:30 AM at Christ The Good Shepherd Chapel.

We hope you can join us to honor our Eagle students have made an exceptional effort as students in our school in the areas of scholarship, citizenship, leadership, service, and character.

Senior Serve: Every year our seniors host Senior Serve to raise funds for their senior trip. Senior Serve will be Wednesday, February 23, 2022.
