Zones Curriculum

Hello families!

We are so close to yet another wonderful school year and the students are doing great at understanding the Zones curriculum. The blue zone is when they are feeling sad, tired, etc. The green zone is when they are feeling like they are ready to learn. The yellow zone is when they are feeling frustrated, silly, etc, and the red zone is when they are feeling mad, out of control, etc. No zone is a bad zone, it is just important to know how to get back to the green zone. This can be done by taking a break, taking deep breaths, thinking of a special person or a special place, etc. If you feel as though your child needs more assistance in regulating their emotions, feel free to reach out so we can put you in touch with extra services to assist your child and their needs.

Extra Set of Clothes

Please remember to send an extra set of clothes for your child to keep at school. Students have all kinds of accidents throughout the day and we are running low on loaner clothes.

Attendance Policy

We look forward to seeing your child everyday! Every day a child misses school, they miss around 6 hours of instruction. If it is necessary for a student to be absent from school, we require the following:

  • Call The Office: A parent/guardian needs to call the office on the day or days of the absence. You can leave a message anytime at 989-831-2500.

or

  • Send a Note To Office: A parent/guardian may send a written note to the office. This note should give a reason for the absence and the date of the absence.

Central Montcalm does make allowances for students to miss school due to sickness or doctor's appointments. Please obtain a doctor's excuse slip when you're at appointments and send back in their homework folder. In the event that your child is on track to miss a significant amount of days this school year you will receive a letter. At 8 unexcused days, the district may choose to schedule a meeting with a Truancy Officer. Thank you for your help in getting students to school EVERY DAY.
