Our third Technology Tuesday session is January 13th. In this session, we will learn about Google Forms. All Kindergarten through second grade teachers will be in the main computer lab. All third through fifth grade teachers will be in the computer lab on the 5th grade hall. Remember to register on the portal.

Balanced Literacy

Our next Balanced Literacy training will be February 25th. There will be three training sessions:
  • 8:00-10:00: Kindergarten and 1st Grade
  • 10:15-12:15: 4th and 5th Grade
  • 12:45-2:45: 2nd and 3rd Grade

The focus for kindergarten and first will be shared reading. The focus for second - third will be writing about reading.

I will secure all subs for the training.

On another note, Linda was very complimentary of Bethel during her last training. Below are her takeaways from the training.

Glows - Focus on genres is superb, Nice book introductions

Grows - Monitoring and correcting students while reading one on one, integrating word work into guided reading groups

Google Sites

There are great videos created by Michael Simmons and other teachers from around the district that will help you greatly with your website. Go to to access them. I would bookmark the page. I am always willing to help, but if you are ever stuck and need immediate help, then this is a great resource.

Data Teams

Our next Data Team meetings are scheduled for January 30th. Remember to bring the following:

  1. Copies of the math and reading assessments for me to keep.
  2. Grade Level Item Analysis for math and reading for each person

Also, as you choose your assessments, especially reading, please remember to assess only the skills you have taught. In order to have rich discussion, we must discuss what the students have not learned and how we can help them.
