Lyme Disease
Lyme disease usually occurs during the summer months and will usually develop as a rash around the site where a person was bit by the tick. During the rash stage of disease a person may have other symptoms such as; fever, headaches, fatigue, muscle or joint pain or a stiff neck. The symptoms of Lyme disease can be confused with flu like symptoms. Please share with your doctor if you have recently been somewhere that ticks like to live.
How do I remove a tick?
Do NOT touch the tick with your bare hands. Do not squeeze the tick. Do not use chemicals or matches to suffocate the tick. If the mouthparts of the tick break off during removal there is no need to worry. The mouthparts cannot transmit disease by themselves. They will dry up and fall out or you can remove them as you would a splinter.
