BES PHONE TREE
In addition to the robo callout, the BES phone tree can be used to communicate whether our schools are open or closed during inclement weather.
Mrs. Walker will call all names in the maroon boxes. You will in turn call the name of the person just below your name. Everyone else will call the person just below their name. If you receive a no answer from the person listed below your name, call the next person and then try to call the no answer number again.
Please check the phone tree and update your information if needed.

SUBSTITUTES
An administrator or secretary must be notified if a substitute is needed. Requests must be made as early as possible to ensure the availability of a substitute. In the event of an emergency and you must call in to request a sub, you can reach Mrs. Walker at (870) 532-7866 (cell). If there is no answer, please leave a message or send a text.
You should have at least 3 days of sub plans in your emergency sub binder that can be used on days that you do not know that you are going to be absent. Sub plans need to be placed in an area that is easy for the substitute to find. In your sub folder, you must have your daily schedule that includes times to change classes, special class times, lunch, activity, dismissal times, scheduled bathroom breaks and the transportation list that shows how your students get home. You must also have a copy of your current class roster with instructions on how to record attendance for your class. You must have any instructional material already copied so the substitute has everything they need for the day. You should have a buddy teacher that will cover your duty when you are out. Please make arrangements so that your duty is covered and return the favor for someone else! We all have emergencies at some point, so we want to make sure our students are appropriately supervised at all times.
Houskeeping
The most effective teaching happens in a well-organized, clean classroom. Too much clutter is an obstacle to learning. Please have students pick up after themselves. SG360 is the custodial firm that provides services to Blytheville Elementary. If you have any custodial needs or concerns, a log book is kept in the office to document your requests. If your needs are not addressed in a timely manner, please inform a principal.

- Please teach the lesson during the scheduled time. Students may be asked for the PBIS focus during walk-throughs.
Next week Focus Area: Playground
OFFICE REFERRALS
1. OFFICE REFERRALS - Please remember that you CANNOT send a student to the referral office. This has become a concern in the last few weeks. Students are being found in the referral office by themselves saying their teacher sent them there. This is a safety concern. You must turn in the behavior expectation log to Ms. Adelowo and put the referral in TAC. A member of the referral team will come get the student as soon as we are able. If it is an immediate concern, send a text or call one of us. Remember that Coach Sharpe teaches PE in the afternoon and cannot always assist with behavior at this time. Please be patient and we will assist you.
2. ISS - I understand that it can be difficult to get work together when a student is sent to ISS. However, there is not an effective way for Ms. Brown to know exactly what each teacher is working on to create packets of work. Please send student work as soon as you are able to get it together.
Notes from the Nurse
Attendance is important and flu season is upon us! Follow these 5 steps when washing your hands to make sure that you are doing it properly!
1. Wet your hands with water.
2. Add soap to your hands and begin rubbing them together out of the water to create a good lather.
3. Continue to scrub your hands for 15- 20 seconds with the soap on them.
4. Rinse your hands underneath the water, making sure to get all of the soap off.
5. Grab a paper towel and begin drying your hands. Use the paper towel to turn off water to the sink and to grab door knobs/handles on your way out of the restroom.
Indoor Recess - Go Noodle
In the event that the school must conduct indoor recess, teachers and staff will follow the indoor recess guidelines that promote physical activity for students, to the extent practicable. Teachers will receive training through professional development on how to implement the “Go Noodle” program. Go Noodle is composed of hundreds of interactive videos making movement and mindfulness an integral part of the day.
Recess will complement, not substitute, physical education class. Recess monitors or teachers will encourage students to be active, and will serve as role models by being physically active alongside the students whenever feasible.
Classroom Physical Activity (Brain Break
Students of all ages are more attentive and ready to learn if provided with periodic breaks when they can be physically active or stretch. Thus, students will be offered periodic opportunities to be active or to stretch throughout the day. The DWC recommends teachers provide short (3-5 minute) physical activity breaks to students during and between classroom time at least three days per week. These physical activity breaks will complement, not substitute, for physical education class, recess, and class transition periods.
