Representing NVUSD Teachers, Counselors, and Nurses
March 3, 2021
Dear Teachers, Counselors and Nurses,
I hope the first week of Phase Three is going well for you. I am glad that our area is declining in Covid-19 cases and has finally moved to the Red Tier. I am also glad that the county is coming through with the offer of vaccines. There has been some concern that the district is requiring vaccines. They are NOT. It is a personal choice.
Here are the Talking Points from NVEA/NVUSD Council from March 2nd.
RIF Notifications will happen before March 15th. We have secured an Attorney and will contact those that may need help. 39 positions were listed for reduction. The district is currently 450 student down in enrollment just in elementary school.
At the Site Rep Meeting on February 22nd we announced a vacancy for a local CTA State Council Rep and for five local NEA-RA reps. If you are interested in either position please let us know. Please check-in with your Site Rep for additional information shared at the Site Rep meeting.
At the Federal and State Level there have been some positive advances for educators. If you are not receiving the emails from CTA and NEA please let me know and we can have your contact information updated.
Stay Well,
Gayle Young
