Principal's Den
I hope that you are all doing well and staying healthy. It was so great seeing so many of you along with your families and friends at home during our virtual Open House. The weather has been beautiful and I hope you are able to go outside safely and enjoy it with your friends, neighbors, and families. We are fortunate to have some of our students back in school doing their distance learning from our classrooms. I hope you will be able to participate in our Superintendent's Expanded Summer Learning Academy going on from June 21 - July 22. You will have the opportunity to take classes at the school with a classroom teacher. Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students are taking their MAP tests this week, please encourage them to always do their best.
May is celebrated as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. I encourage you to take the time to research some of the inspirational Asian American and Pacific Islander figures today and in our past that have contributed greatly to our country's history.
As we near the end of our school year. Please remember that no race is complete until you cross the finish line. For us that finish line is on June 11. Make sure to finish strong so you may begin next year the same way. This Friday we have our virtual awards assembly for the month of April. Please check with your teachers to make sure you have the right time to log into Ms. Dahlman's zoom classroom.
STAR students of the week - Congratulations to our STAR students of the week: Alyssa Valenzuela from Ms. Bates's class and Franki Munoz from Ms. Cordova's class. We have many other outstanding nominees for this special award and I will proudly read their names in the morning announcements. Please make sure that your students continue to stay engaged and participate in their classes daily.
Employees of the Month: We are recognizing a certificated teacher and a classified educator for the month of May. Our teacher of the month is Ms. Sharkey and our classified educator of the month is our EL Instructional Assistant Ms. Minnie Guerrero.
Thank you,
At Cloverdale we strive to be Leaders by Example. As I mention to our students during announcements, this means that we always try to do the right thing even when no one is looking.
As part of our school's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS), we also learn to ROAR. This is a matrix that exemplifies our core values of being Respectful, Organized, Accountable, and Responsible.
Our goal is to be college ready once we graduate from High School and that starts today!
Sincerely,
Genaro García

Mrs. Richards knew she wanted to be a teacher as a child, in her words “ this is my dream job.” She has been teaching for 32 years. She has spent the majority of her career at Cloverdale, this marks her 24th year here. We are so lucky to have her on our team!
Classified Employee Of The Year:
Congratulations to Kim Sharp our evening custodian. Kim started working for MVUSD as a sub custodian in October of 2014. She worked at a few different sites before she was offered a long term assignment at Armada elementary, where she remained worked through August 2015. Kim decided to apply for a permanent position with the district after realizing how much she truly enjoyed the job. In August of 2015 she was offered a spot at Cloverdale Elementary and lucky for us, she accepted.
