Field Day
Thank you to all of the volunteers who came to NVE and helped with field day!! WE REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!
Social Media - A message from Mr. Hill
As we get into warmer weather, historically we have seen more conflict arising from social media, outside of school, that then comes into the classroom. This holds especially true with our 6th grade students. We encourage you to monitor your students social media accounts and talk with them about responsible use and how to be a positive digital citizen. Doing so can help them be more focused at school and be a more positive and less stressed child. Please let our counseling office know if you need any resources to help with this.
Bus Policy Update
Students are not currently allowed to ride the school bus with a friend after school. This is a measure that is being taken to keep bus spacing and prevent the spread of Covid. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Custodian Position Available
If anyone is interested we have a custodian position open at NVE. Please apply at jcsc.org or call JCS Administration Office at 812-346-4483.
Coaches Needed
NVE is in need of an archery coach and a robotics coach for next year. Please email
nhill@jcsc.org if interested.

We will not have a movie on Sunday since we’re doing a special showing on Thursday.
If you would like to purchase tickets in advance for a movie the box office is open on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 2-5pm and on Saturday from 10am-1pm.
Masks are required while walking around inside, but not while you are seated.
Prices have not changed, going to the park theatre is a great value. $5 for adults, $3 for students
FREE Breakfast & Lunch
JCSC has the opportunity to offer free breakfast and free lunch to all students again this year. Please take advantage of this exciting and nutritional service! The only thing that would cost money is if your student got an extra milk for $0.50 each.
Water Bottles
Students are able to have and should have a water bottle during the school day. Proper hydration is crucial to students being able to focus and learn and this year, with the water fountains not usable, our bottle fillers are the only source of water for students. We give students a disposable cup if they forgot their water bottle but please make sure your student has a water bottle to use at school regularly. This will help with healthy learning habits
IMPORTANT: Car Pick Up Safety
"As you wait in line to drop off or pick up students at NVE, please make sure that you are staying on the correct side of the road. Even though it may be tempting to "jump line" by driving on the opposite side of the road to get into our parking lot, this creates a very dangerous situation for oncoming traffic on such a narrow road. Please model patience, grace and safety for our students as you drop off and pick up your student. We appreciate your help in making NVE a safer place!"
Title 1 Literacy Tip of the Week
Read aloud together with your child every day. Make it fun by reading outdoors on the front steps, patio, at the beach or park. Also, let your children read to you. For younger children, point out the relationship between words and sounds.
Birthday Celebrations
Just a quick reminder, that if your student will be celebrating a birthday and you are wanting to bring classroom celebration goodies, please check-in with your students teacher for a good day to bring those in. Also, the goodies will need to be individually wrapped and store bought.
Thank You!
