Happy New Year

In January, we're starting off the New Year with brand new projects in Art Class -- from a famous Seattle landmark to the colorful patterned landscapes of David Hockney, this month is all about landscapes and cityscapes. Check out what's coming up.

Artsonia Hall of Fame Winners

Congratulations to Brylee Ross, Cameron Gilmor, Jackson Sliger, Sebastian Merkel, Neha Vincent, Nikhil Vincent, Zachary Woodward, and Nicholas Mercuri for being the first students to win the Artsonia online Art Gallery Hall of Fame Awards this school year. To receive an Artsonia Hall of Fame Award artists must have 3 or more posted arworks, 5 or more Fans, and 5 or more comments from online visitors. Certificates will be awarded at Launch on Monday, January 4th 2016. Many thanks go to parents, families, and friends for supporting student art through positive comments and continued interest. This kind of support builds confidence in these budding artists as their abilities grow and their ideas begin to take flight. There will be many more winners to come this year.

I encourage everyone in our school community to view other Evergreen student artworks with your child and leave positive comments.

Ready, Set, Draw at Home!

Art For Kids Hub is one of my Favorite Things (besides brown paper packages tied up with strings). If it's too rainy or cold to go outside, try one of these step by step drawing lessons. All you need is a pencil or markers and blank copy paper. This one depicts the book character Madeline, but you can find drawing lessons from popular cartoon shows, to Star Wars, to My Little Pony, or what ever you wish. For more lessons go to http://artforkidshub.com/
