On behalf of the staff, I would like to wish the Oster community a happy and safe holiday season. We look forward to serving your family in 2021! Cheers to a better year!

On December 15th, Oster's 5th Grade teachers shared with the USD Board their annual project in which they inspired their students to explore and try a new hobby or activity. Teachers Nathan Hickey and Todd Sinclair shared that the Hobby Project starts with students brainstorming and selecting a hobby, journaling daily about the process, then presenting to their classmates with a live demonstration. If you missed that presentation you can check it out here:

COVID-19 Updates for Santa Clara County: Latest news for our community. December 19, 2020

Dear Neighbors,

Navigating the holidays continues to be a point of contention and stress among families and friends. Like you, we are tired and want to be with our families this holiday season, but it is not safe. Talking with loved ones about this year's plans can be awkward and stressful. We have laid out a few tips with suggested responses to help make turning down invitations a little easier. Check them out below.

Travel and Quarantine
Everyone should cancel or postpone travel plans unless absolutely necessary. Anyone who travels more than 150 miles will need to quarantine for 10 days (updated from 14 days) upon returning, but should continue monitoring for symptoms for the full 14 days. The County provides services if you need to isolate or quarantine. Watch the video.

Isolation and Quarantine Services
Santa Clara County COVID-19 Support Team provides resources to County residents who test positive for COVID-19 or are identified as contacts to a positive case to enable them to isolate or quarantine safely. Watch the video. Please call 408-808-7770 to make a referral. The referral hotline is available 7 days/week, 8 am – 5 pm.

You’ve all heard the story of Aladdin and the Genie of the lamp. Now you can be a part of the storytelling. This will be a Starting Arts virtual production offered to Oster students. Rehearsals will happen over Zoom. The usual tech week/performance dates will be used to have students create recordings of their part while being guided by the director. Those recordings will be professionally edited into a movie. In May, Starting Arts will host a virtual watch party so that students can invite friends and family (from anywhere!) to see their talent, hard work, and dedication in action! Students will also receive the recording as a souvenir after the watch party. Open to all Oster students in 3rd through 5th grade. Production starts February 3rd, 2021. Visit https://bit.ly/osteraladdin for more information and to register.
