Hot, dry, blistering sun. The story American Sniper takes place in the country of Iraq just on the outskirts of Sadr City. Throughout the story the houses they are search looking for their target are old torn apart houses that are ready to fall over at anytime. The street way they ahve to cross everytime they move to a new house are very vulnerable and have little or no cover at all.

Book Reviews

The paperback version has nearly 400 pages of text, but can be read quickly. I got through the book in about a week. Retrospectively, I probably should have read it a bit more slowly. Being a dedicated solder is not easy, but being a Navy SEAL seems especially difficult. Kyle recounts numerous experiences in combat, but also does a nice job of explaining other aspects of life as a soldier, including how his work affects relationships with friends and family. I've always thought that some people were made to be soldiers, to see the brutalities of war firsthand; if that's indeed true, Chris Kyle was definitely one of those people. He loved his job as a Navy SEAL.

From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyle's kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared him so much they placed a bounty on his head. Kyle earned legendary status among his fellow U.S. warriors, whom he protected with deadly accuracy from rooftops and stealth positions. Gripping and unforgettable, Kyle's masterful account of his extraordinary battlefield experiences ranks as one of the great war memoirs of all time.

”One shot, one kill” is the creed of military snipers. For those in elite warfare units such as the U.S. Navy SEALs, the additional skill of being able to quietly infiltrate an enemy’s area undetected in order to deliver precision fire is mandatory. Working in proximity to where adversaries are operating, and being expected to survive in order to be deployed to additional firefights, is a given.“American Sniper” is retired Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle’s gripping and dramatic account of how he became the deadliest sniper in U.S. military history, with more than 180 officially confirmed “kills” in the Iraq War from 2003 to 2009.
